Briedis? looks that for pro debut they had HW dude, he fought him at weight like he is walking around. Later the better opponents are, the longer and more intensive pre fight camps are. After these he looked smaller, lesser fat %. Then just a bit to maintain weight and no problems to make 200 lbs limit. Usyk is with impressive amateur boxing achievments so ofc Oly level training camps etc. he too didn't had much problems to make 200 lbs limit. Usyk is a bit larger than Briedis but not much larger.
He might collect paychecks: fight with Povetkin, Whyte, Chisora, Whiterspoon, Pulev, Wilder. If someone will gave them for him to fight with.
Povetkin at 225-230 lbs vs Briedis at 213-217 lbs might be interesting to see and amazing. Especially if Povetkin too was 35 not 41. After reached 36+ Povetkin looks that was over the hill. Still good fighter but not in prime.
If garbage like Beyonce Wilder was able to win a title in HW I'm pretty sure talented boxers like Usyk have a chance.
Yea unless of course you are overestimating the talent of fighters like Usyk who is clearly large enough to be a heavyweight yet chose not to even test the waters until his 30s
I think to some extent yeah because they not rarerly aren't doing long pre fight shittalks and not rarerly are pretty respectful to opponent before and after fight. Guys like Briedis are like this and Usyk actually at CW by himself too. yes, if he handled out shittalks and insults to get more attention definitely he had better paychecks cos higher interest about him. Another stuff that glory for endless not known for casual average inhabitant orgs belts is a bit. Overestimated. Also combat sport fans are pretty nationalistic and a bit tribal. Not likely westerners will glorify eastern euro fighter even if he had 1000-0-0 record.
Look what he did to the much bigger Charr with a single shot. Strange how none of the career HWs Charr fought could even come close to replicating taking him out like that. Charr's a tough guy and even the savage punching Povetkin could only get him out of there with a sequence of huge shots and that was a much better Povetkin than the 39 y/o one who fought AJ. That Povetkin would've definitely beaten AJ and The Tuscaloser. And don't forget that Briedis was never hurt in any of his sparring sessions against Wlad whereas The Tuscaloser was, and this is the most charitable version for The Tuscaloser, hurt numerous times and dropped heavily x 2 and he was so badly hurt by one of those KDs had it been a real fight the ref would've waved it off. And Briedis would've sparred more rounds against Wlad than the Tuscaloser did too.
The guy is big enough to be a heavyweight and you just stated that instead of proving he's the baddest man on the planet he'd rather pick up easier titles because it's better pay. Doesn't have **** to do with nationalism, "westerners" or anything else. It's about proving your the top fighter in the world. You don't do that by fighting in a division that's mostly comprised of people from your area of the world when you could be in the sports marquee division.
