All right. It has been a minute. Let's call them. 1. Tyson Fury He ended Wlad's legendary reign, and beat his fellow big-three heavy in Wilder. I am perfectly happy with people who still see it as Joshua, but Fury head and shoulders for me. 2. Anthony Joshua He did a great job picking up the pieces when Fury left, has much more depth to the resume than Fury, and, arguably, you might be forgiven for thinking that he has 3-4 guys on the resume who are better than Wilder. But that last part is very difficult to say, and he does have the nasty loss. 3. Olexsander Usyk Even though I am a fan, I resisted ranking him this high before he actually accomplished anything. Despise the Chisora win as you will, but he also beat Hunter, and more on that later. Also beat Joyce in a fight that was a pro-fight in all but name (counts in my estimation), and has wins over Breidis and Huck, who have competed credibly at heavy, and Bellew and Gassiev, who also have had limited heavyweight careers. 4. Alexander Povetkin Knocked Whyte cold, and ruined the great thousand day campaign. I really want him to be the first bridgerweight champ, but for now, he is definitely #4 at heavy until proven otherwise. 5. Mike The Bounty Hunter Jr. Good wins over Kuzmin, Okolie, and Ustinov, but also the draw that most people thought he won against Povetkin. That fight proves he deserves to be at this level. 6. Juggernaught Joe Joyce. Yup. Won the prospect showdown against Dubois, and is now a full-fledged contender. Jennings, Ustinov, and Stiverne were quality to. He has arrived. 7. Andy Ruiz Completely disgraced himself against Joshua, but at least finished on his feat, and he did have the big win before it. A lot of rebuilidng to do, but people are going to want to fight him. 8. Deontay Wilder Fell hard, and arguably never really accomplished as much as given credit for in the first place. Compare him to Ruiz...never beat anyone as good as Joshua and looked much the worse in defeat. He is below Ruiz. 9. Dillion Whyte Great streak of wins which was derailed by Povetkin similar to how Fury derailed Wilder. He was never a "titlist" like Wilder, but inarguably fought better competition, though some of the wins were dodgy. I would have no problem with putting him above Wilder...they are very close. 10. Joe Parker Don't remember his last important fight, but he is a former titlist who gets mentioned a lot, and might get the WBO title shot if it is split off. All in all, I would say that is a quality top ten to work with, and the bull pen is deep as well. Yoka, Helenius, Martin and Hrgovic are also all streaking or coming off big wins.
Agreed. Not so sure about wilder because despite being the hardest puncher in the division he resume is poor compared to every other top 10 opponent. But best list I've seen so far
A well reasoned list, one of the better ones I’ve read on here! It’s hard to argue with what you’ve got here, maybe Usyk is a little high having only faced Bellew and Chisora as a full blown HW but I won’t quibble.
1 - Fury 2- Joshua 3 - Povetkin 4 - Wilder 5 - Usyk 6 - Whyte 7 - Ruiz Jr 8 -Parker 9 - Hunter 10 - Pulev
My personal rankings (mix between resume and skills): 1. Fury 2. Joshua 3. Povetkin 4. Usuk 5. Pulev 6. Whyte 7. Wilder 8. Parker 9. Ruiz 10. Joyce 11. Hunter 12. Ortiz 13. Kabayal 14. Helenius 15. Chisora
C - Tyson Fury - I only recognise the lineal champ. 1. Anthony Joshua - Alphabet King. 2. Deontay Wilder - Needs to get the third Fury fight happening. Could win it with one right hand. 3. Oleksandr Usyk - Olympics & Cruiser King. 4. Michael Hunter - He beat Povetkin. 5. Alexander Povetkin - Siberian mammoth meat King. 6. Joseph Parker - Southern Hemisphere King. 7. Joe Joyce - The Juggernaut has arrived. 8. Tony Yoka - The frog is no joke. 9. Andy Ruiz - Former Alphabet King. 10. Dillian Whyte - I think his race is run.
I tried to emphasize those who have taken competitive fights in the last couple years over those who haven't, and I'm giving Pulev credit for getting in the ring with AJ. If he backs out this week we'll have to assemble a council of the learnèd to replace him. Fury AJ Wilder Povetkin Ruiz Whyte Usyk Parker Joyce Pulev
Champ = Tyson Fury 1. Anthony Joshua 2. Deontay Wilder 3. Alex Povetkin 4. Oleksandr Usyk 5. Michael Hunter 6. Joey Joyce 7. Dillian Whyte 8. Joey Parker 9 . Andy Ruiz 10. Kubrat Pulev
Gonna base mine on who i actually think is better and not so much ORG's I think I'll be ripped to shreds but it is what it is Fury AJ Wilder Joyce Povetkin Hgorvic Whyte Ruiz Parker Bakole
I see nobody has Ortiz in their top 10 anymore. How quickly things change. He could possible beat some top 10 guys but he's wasting what little he has left on nobodies. Let's hope the Ruiz Jr fight happens.
Although they could beat him, based on resume I dont see any way you you could argue Whyte over Wilder, let alone Joyce and Hunter. People say Wilders resume is bad but who have these guys beat? Chisora? Jennings?
Whyte beat Parker, who is better than anyone on Wilder's resume. Hunter got the draw with Povetkin at least. Joyce is on a streak, whereas Wilder is coming off a loss. Losses count.
