Full disclosure: there are plenty of great fighters I haven't taken the time to watch or who I feel I have barely skimmed the surface of their careers. Obviously, in some cases we are limited due to a lack of footage too... but how many fights have you watched of any one individual fighter? Are there any that you have seen the complete career of - or at least every fight that is available on film (either on YouTube or found elsewhere)? And how many fights do you think it takes for you to know a fighter in order to feel familiar and informed enough with their style and their in-ring accomplishments?
Mike Tyson, he got me into boxing. I was one of those guys that thought he was unbeatable and the best ever in his prime. I’ve seen all of his fights multiple times.
I’ve seen all the filmed fights of Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson, with the exception of the Bonecrusher Smith fight. Probably seen these two the most. Also a lot of James Toney.
As sad as this is going to sound I've seen about 15 Audley Harrison fights. But the most would be either Tyson or Mayweather. I never actively went out my way too watch Tyson, but I always had sports channels & on either Sky Sports or Eurosport they did a series of all of his fights before he got a title shot & there wasn’t anything better on TV.
Harry Greb and NONPAREIL Jack Dempsey from my super secret, double probation boxing 35mm film collection.
I have seen many on closed circuit television and on live television. Muhammad Ali, Carlos Monzon, Bob Foster, Jose Mantequilla Napoles, Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello, Victor Galindez, John Conteh, Salvador Sanchez, Thomas Hearns, Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Julio Caesar Chavez Sr to name a few. I have followed the sport since 1965. I knew a lady at work who was related to Marvelous Marvin Hagler, he was her first cousin. She went to a family gathering in Boston, she came back with an autographed photo for me, signed by the champ himself, it was after the Hearns fight in 1985. I also have seen some of the above mentioned fighter live in their matches.
He was pretty much unbeatable in his prime. Apart from Liston, Foreman, Vitali and Bowe, I don't see anyone else capable of beating him in his prime. Perhaps even Lennox, but that's it.
I reckon I've seen upwards of 30 fights from Duran, Pacquiao and Morales. Holyfield can't be too far behind those. I've seen (without checking) every title fight from those four.
Has nothing to do with the question. Just a chance for the poster to once more show his unquenchable lust for everything Tyson. Should hook up with Mark and see what happens.
