The only thing off was his conditioning. I noticed it after round 7 I think. People who say he looked worse overall must have bad an extremely high opinion of him before
I thought Danny would have given him a better run for the money but you can't take nothing away from Spence, he looked great. He needs a couple more fights before he takes on Crawford and I think he knows that. The lady asked him who he wants next and he started talking about horses and cows , chickens and everything else but Crawford. I can understand that. Crawford is pissed and he is gonna take it out on Porter.
Power has never been his strong suit, but he got hit with a few clean shots and was basically fine. It was pretty good against an opponent that had to be taken seriously.
Spence just handily beat a world class fighter in his first fight back and he’s “not the same.” I swear fight fans are the worst, most illogical people on the planet. Kinda like the super far left and super far right in politics. The truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.
so you want a fighter who's fighting everyone to stop ducking a fighter who's fought no-one? remind me which member of crawford's crew said during the brook fight that "it's not who you fight, but how you fight".
I thought he looked fine. He lost a little intensity from round 8 on wards but that isn't surprising given the circumstances, another camp or two and he'll probably be back to 100%. Garcia never really stood a chance, he's a natural counter puncher and that style isn't going to work unless you can move and make Spence fall short and miss, just standing there trying to catch and counter will just allow Spence to get to work, which is what we saw.
Even leaving the accident aside, he hadn't fought in 14 months and was fighting a good opponent. This fight will do him the power of good.
Again the hyperboles, sigh. Both fighters are the clear #1, 2 on the division and stood very close each other. Competitive decision is the mos likely scenario. I would pick Crawford tough.
I expected Spence to be a bit more on the outside against Garcia with a sharper gameplan But it was bog-standard Spence setting a pace and coming at you. Garcia is a tough cookie at all ranges, he hits you on the way in & the way out. Comes from all angles & is tough as a Russian babushka. Spence did well and you have to respect what Danny is capable of, his footwork looked pretty decent against Spence also. He can be very flat footed. You can only put respect on Danny's name. It was a low point in boxing for me seeing him crank Khan in 2012 but it's no surprise seeing what he's achieved over the last 8 years. He's quite a humble dude as well. Khan was getting tagged by him through that fight before he got flattened and landed big shots on him, Should have been wise to figure out how dangerous Garcia was despite underestimating him.
