Arguello easily by KO inside 10. It took a superhuman effort from alltime great Aaron Pryor to stop the Arguello train. At 140 Arguello s power would decapitate McGurt, Costello, Chavez (yes Chavez).

McGirt was a terrible style for Arguello. I’d favor him over 10 and probably 12. Gotta favor Alexis in a 15 round title fight, though.

Buddy was an outstanding boxer but Arguello would time him and line up his fastball. KO 9th

Arguello was lucky as it was that he never fought Mamby.

A bit strange to me. He was a very good champion at 140 and 147. That’s two divisions higher than Arguello ever won a title. Granted, AA was extremely unfortunate in coming up against a monster like Pryor in his attempts. He’d likely have won in most other eras.

On top of that, McGirt was the exact type of slick boxing mover and counter puncher that Arguello was consistently troubled by all throughout his career.

I don't see McGirt being in the class of Arguello. Two different levels of fighter.

Alexis Arguello would have taken his time, box cautiously, used his left jab, combination to score a decision win over Buddy McGirt. Buddy does not have the footwork or movement to trouble Alexis.
