No, Booth was messing him about before the froch fight and was more interested in Haye, told Groves he didn't know if he was gonna go to the press conference for the Froch fight, which is really poor for his first world title etc.

Groves called him on it, booth then texted him so say he wouldn't be training him anymore but made sure to put in the text that he would still be managing him, incase it went down the legal route.

Groves took it to the board as booth was meant to be managing him but was actively putting obstacles in his way (stopping him getting his gym stuff etc) Groves took it to the board saying why should he still be on the 25%. he never actually said but sunded like the board sided with Booth

Something about Booth just doesn't sit right with me,

This is just the tip of the iceberg with Paddy, in his 'boxing life stories' podcast he goes into detail on his acid and ecstasy use.

The reason it's ridiculous that the same guy is manager and trainer is because both are supposed to be significant jobs and there's no way you can do both as effectively as two people, especially when you are also training and managing others.

You can really tell Booth is a lowlife by the way he abandoned Groves right before the Froch fight. He's supposed to be the caretaker so even if for some genuine reason he couldn't train him, he should have helped organise the replacement etc. And this is where the manager scandal comes into it. If they had such a vicious falling out that they couldn't be in the same space together, Booth should have quit as manager at the very least, not try to take more money from the guy he hangs out to dry and basically mismanages.

I think the problem Booth had with Groves is that Groves is not a typical dumb fighter easy to manipulate. He's quite bright and I assume he started working out what a dodgy ******* Booth actually is.

Not sure you can have it both ways tbh...we,ve seen it the other way many times over. When the fighter leaves when its time to make decent money in order not to pay the 25 percent etc. Their fine to let the trainer/manager take the risks on them...invest their time and sometimes money in them only to leave when its time to make a bit of money on that investment.

I m surprised theres many trainers/managers/promoters left tbh...bit of a mugs game with most fighters moving on when the money starts to go up.

Think there was maybe bigger problems with booth and groves as well. Remember as far back as the glen johnson fight...rumblings that groves was getting fed up of not getting off the leash. Booth was a bit too tight with his gameplans...like the degale fight etc. Think groves felt he had more to show but booth wouldnt let him with his tactics.

Also had to play second fiddle to haye...groves was ready to become a star of his own...in a bit of a rush with it.

The way groves fought in the froch 1 fight pretty much points to that first point above as well. Essentially tho the way it turned out booth was probably right. But it worked out georges way as well tbh...ended up becoming a bigger star off the back of it...would have been interesting to see how it would have ended up going down booths path tho.

Think Tris Dixon's podcasts are great in general. Sky or BT would be better using him on fight nights instead of you're Andy Clarke's and Bunceys.

I personally do not think anyone should be able to do more than one role for a fighter (promote, manage, or train). Doing so leaves a conflict of interest scenario. I also do not believe it's right a manager gets more than the trainer tbh.

Purely speculation but I imagine Booth would have a different story to tell.

Tunde and Coldwell are others also like to 'manage' their fighters.

I think he does bits and bobs for them. Ge used to often do Skys international bills in middle of nights. He was more knowledgeable than alot of ex pros when it come to foreign based fighters.

Booth is one of the most unlikeable people in boxing, maybe even edging out Tesco Joe. Creepy wee arrogant weirdo.

well its been said for a LONG time that booth is the most expensive UK trainer/manager as he add stuff on top to train fighters. I am not suprised.
