To clarify, I like both guys. After the Chirsora fight, a lot of the fans are down on Usyk, saying that he is past his best, and just physically overmatched at heavy. I have already done the the threads where I have pointed out that Usyk threw about 2/3 of the volume that he is capable of throwing, and the fight wasn't that close anyway, with Usyk staggering Chisora in the seventh, and landing more punches in ten of the twelve rounds. I think he definitely beats anyone except Joshua, who I am 50/50 with, and Fury, who he should maybe stay away from. What I am curious about is that the Joshua detractors really seem out in full force right now. They are claiming that he fought tentative, failed to pull the trigger, and showed his usual stamina problems. There is a lot of "if Fury landed that shot...if Wilder landed that shot..." Again, to re-iterate, I don't necessarily share those sentiments. Yeah, Joshua is still on the comeback trail. But hell, even Fury, who I think probably is the best, was being written off by people just two fights back. Nobody is perfect in this division. So, if the Joshua-Usyk fight gets made, who do you think wins and why? Is Joshua just too big and strong? Can Usyk capitalize on Joshua's continuing issue's without the right skill set? Is Usyk just too much of a master of his craft for Big Josh? Does Joshua know how to fight a southpaw?
Usyk beats him on points, unless the fix is in. I think he's just too quick, well schooled, and fights at too high a workrate for Joshua to hang with him.
This is exactly why I put a "screwjob" option along with draw. Usyk is just too brave about fighting in the other guy's backyard. I could see Usyk winning this, but, at the end of day, Joshua has done a good job of amassing a heavyweight record minus one fight, and I just have the odd feeling that people underestimate him. If any of the big three--Fury, Usyk, Joshua--step in the ring, I just say let the better man show himself and win.
It does not matter how average was todays AJ's performance. Usyk does not belong there. AJ would destroy him by pure mauling.
That was exactly my thoughts prior to tonight. But based on Joshua's mental demeanor even in victory I honestly think mentally he's damaged goods . He looked to me tonight to be very uncomfortable and almost scared in a fight he was clearly winning throughout even with the KD's. The next fight he has with an elite level fighter he's finished IMHO.
usyk usyk is not part of any Big 3. that is still Wilders rightful spot. AJ was given the benefit of doubt after his loss to Ruiz and Wilder deserves the same benefit of doubt. he was the WBC champion for 5 years and 10 defenses for christ's sakes. usyk has done nothing at HW besides run fom ring post to ring post against a faded Chisora. big 3......please

After Ruiz II I didn't feel that confident for AJ. After Pulev I do because you can't win a round getting rocked like AJ was able to do in the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th ect. Regardless if you're knocked down or not you can't take power punching combos like that and win the round. From that perspective AJ is capable of controlling the fight by staying on his bicycle and waiting for opportunities.
I have another thread about who will come out of top of the division. Wilder and Ruiz are options. Perhaps you would like to vote there? As for Usyk, he could literally beat Wilder with his eyes closed. Literally. I mean, you could blindfold him. But hey, we shall see.
Usyk knocks him out. People here are sleeping on Usyk’s power and killer instinct. Usyk ain’t stupid he knows he doesn’t get a judges’ decision on a Matchroom card. He goes for the KO and shocks everyone.
