This. Quarry was an excellent fighter, but Dempsey would crush Quarry. Dempsey is all wrong for Quarry.
I like(d) Quarry and enjoy his skill and body of work...but I don’t see him beating Fury or Joshua or even Wilder...not sure how he would be champ today...not in anyway I could envision.
Quarry by stoppage about 7th. He would counter Dempsey. Once he backed Jack up its all over. Jerry wasn't a big guy but he carried real heavyweight power without being crude like a Firpo or Brennan.
At cruiserweight, he could be champion today. At heavyweight, it would be much harder and less likely. Quarry was a superb fighter but i agree he did not have the tools to beat Fury or Joshua. I could see him outboxing Wilder like he did Lyle.
Wilder may have trouble holding a job sparring with Quarry. If he can't hold his own then he can't stay in camp. Fury would be a tough matchup. He can box. Joshua? He has a good offense but I don't know if he could handle Jerry putting hands on him.
Dempsey. Quarry would take too many punches to land one of his own, not a good strategy against a puncher like Dempsey, who also had an underrated defense.
