I am beginning to think there's some real tension and miscommunication between Joshua and Hearn and SKY is what his next career step should be. Hearn's always talking up the AJ resume and AJ's been joking about "why am I the one fighting the most top 10 ranked opponents ?" ... now he's faced with a choice of Usyk and Fury and he might be genuinely wondering why he can't have a Tom Schwarz ....
Joshua needs to remember that once you become champion of several belts you don’t have the luxury of fighting a Tom Schwarz. He’s the champ, and has to honour his mandatories. People are paying £20-25 to watch him. If he wants to continue rinsing the fans then he has to give them something they want to buy.
That's a pretty good interview from Smith. In that situation he is a good listen. He's not *particularly* biased either which is refreshing. I suspect he thinks Fury might beat Joshua, just a few little tells in the way he talks about the fight.
Adam Smith always comes across sensible and balanced in those interviews. But he's completely insane when he's "at work" proper. I also suspect he regrets that SKY haven't broadcast a Fury fight since Fury's upset win over Klitschko, despite all the fun they've had broadcasting and building Joshua. Smith knows it would have been better than have both and probably understands part of the problem in the past has been Eddie Hearn's arrogance, which even Hearn has almost owned up to.
OP - You think that's a bad thing ?? Never once has the notion entered my head that I'd like to watch an Anthony Joshua interview - 'Listen right, I'm just focusing on training, I leave that stuff to Eddie and my team, focused on next opponent, dealing with mandatories, prove the doubters wrong, stay humble etc. etc.'.
I just can not listen a Joshua interview, he tries to come across as intellectual but in the process makes himself sound a bit dumb.
You have also got to think when Fury was 28 stone Hearn will have been laughing at Fury. Joshua is the top dog at sky as Dillian Whyte has found out and you can tell Whyte hates that. There is no way would Fury be playing second fiddle to Joshua at Sky and that is why he signed with Frank. Eddie and Adam Smith know Fury bests AJ and for that reason we won't get the fight next.
indeed i have thought the same thing. The thing with Bean is that you can tell he is a strange creepy individual but he loves the sport, he is not deluded and is a very intelligent guy and knows boxing inside out, He carn't just come out and say Fury beats AJ as it would be a conflict of interest but that dosn't hide the fact that Fury is superior in every aspect of boxing and Smith is not blind he can see that, TBH i dont even know if i would give AJ a punches chance.
The David Diamante version released yesterday and i have also watched that. David is a fascinating individual and definitely worth a couple of hours of anyone's time. This content is protected
As @Wig has stated below its his catchphrase mate he goes into it in the interview. "From the 4 corners of the World, to the 4 corners of this ring", and "The fight starts now". Seems like he has lived though does David Diamante..... Diamante.
