Yeah, I know, but still.... Callum didn't knock his arm off, he KO'd him with a fast counter left hook to the temple. The only guy to do that was Froch. Sure, maybe it wasn't prime, but he was coming off of a dominant win over Eubank, who's just beaten several quality SMW's, so it was impressive nonetheless.

Difference is Spence is a p4p boxer, Smith just isn't. He is pretty basic and a bit of a weight bully. Canelo has far too much to his game to lose to somebody like Smith.

Think it was a body shot that finished wasn't it?

I was a fan of Groves but that was a shot fighter in there that night.

Hopefully Smith proves me wrong but i just don't see anything in his game that is a worry to Canelo.

2009 Floyd vs current Callum at openweight. Even though Callum would be 3x Floyd's size, he wouldn't be able to hit him right? So wouldn't Floyd win?

No, Groves got clipped on the temple, wobbled badly, and Callum pinned him in the corner and unloaded several more headshots on him until he went down in a heap.

And I'm not getting my hopes up either, but Callum has the tools to beat Canelo, if he utilizes the proper gameplan. Just follow the Kovalev blueprint, and sit down on his counters.

Yeah he landed that big left but I'm certain it was the body shot that ended it.

    edit:

Groves showed grace in his defeat and congratulated his English rival.

“Embarrassing,” said Groves.“I’ve never been hurt by a body shot before this in my entire career. But all credit to Callum. He deserves this night.”

Cant see it. Canelo hits hard. Reckon he,ll get the body shots off himself. Smith will put on a typical joe gallagher display on when he goes up against top opposition. Which is keep the output low and try not to give much away. I think joe almost lacks confidence when he goes up against top opposition.

For me you have to send smith in there to hurt canelo if you,ve any chance of winning. They wont tho...the gameplan will be to give nothing away...try to have one or two bursts a round where he throws more than a jab.

Hope i m wrong because that wont be enough to beat canelo.

Reckon smith will start well enough frustrate canelo a bit but as the fight goes on canelo doesnt need a lot to start wearing you down...even his normal punches are pretty hard. Late stoppage for canelo where smith doesnt go for it the way he should is my prediction.

I live with my parents so not taking her to see them as it's a first date, also I'm not taking her to a dinner date. Gotta earn that. Sick of wasting money on them.

I don't see anything wrong with having your date meet your folks on the first date, but good on you for not spending money on women until they earn it. Your head is in the right place.

Im just hoping that if Smith somehow makes it close that youre not in here claiming some kind of moral victory or claiming Smith was some how robbed.

Canelo has some huuuuuge balls for taking this fight. The size difference reminds me of Pacquiao vs Margarito or Duran vs Barkley.
Canelo is elite at 154 and 160 he proved it Vs ggg and Jacob's but above that it's been a useless Chavez Jr and fielding both of which he drained with CW and rehydration and a weakened kovalev. (still a very respectable win imo Kovalev was still capable against Alvarez and Yarde)

People want to talk about smoke and mirrors on Canelo's Resumee but
Callum has no glaring weaknesses like Kovalev with his general punch resistance and weakness to the body for example.
Callum is fundamentally sound, can punch, in his prime and HUGE.

People need to respect what kind of win this would be for Canelo. This is some big boy stuff. Nobody other than Pacquiao has the balls to take these kinds of risks, especially not undefeated, supposedly p4p fighters like Crawford

Smith isn't really the kind of fighter who uses his reach to maximum effect. His natural game is to get on the attack. He always looks awkward when he's trying to box from range. It's one thing against the likes of Nieky Holzken but he couldn't even keep John Ryder away effectively. Ryder is an improving fighter and a more natural aggressor but realistically a European level operator. Also struggled badly against Skoglund. Smith is a funny fighter in that there is an argument he fights to the level of his opposition but I don't think you can say that with the right gameplan he beats Canelo. Despite his physical advantages, I doubt he is capable of executing that gameplan.

Eh she's French and would struggle to converse with myself let alone my whole family. Don't wanna make her uncomfortable, plus I'd like to get pretty drunk without my parents there.

I just don’t rate Smith that highly, i rate him below Jacobs and GGG. (Id say kovalev too but the man who turned up for that fight was an actual shell of a man)

that said this is bawxing, Buster Douglas beat Tyson, bigger upsets have happened. But my brain says clear Canelo UD, maybe 7-5, 8-4

I genuinely think if Canelo beats Smith, it will be the most difficult opponent he's ever had to overcome in his career.

Beating a power punching gigantic prime SMW is much tougher than facing a quick defensive WW, a slower bludgeoning MW, or an alcoholic beast of a LHW.

Don't get me wrong, Mayweather, Golovkin and Kovalev were all great opponents for Canelo to face, but none present the challenge for him thag Smith does imo.
