This was on the undercard last night of Puello vs. Coria in the Dominican Republic, where the ref called for a break, and the opponent of Rojas, Rafkis Encarnacion landed what appeared to be a knuckle rabbit punch to the brain stem of Rojas, who's a tough as nails reliable 40 year old Mexican journeyman, 24 year pro, and former champion, participating in the 76th match of his long career. He immediately went down face first, started convulsing, the ref stands there looking hapless, then someone (doctor/trainer?) rushed into the ring, violently flipped him over, bouncing the back of his head off the canvass, while they all stood around looking clueless. Finally oxygen was brought in, and they went to break, while Rojas laid prone, with his right leg jerking. Quite frankly, it was appalling and clueless behavior from all, the opponent, the ref and the doctor, should all be severely penalized, and possibly banned from the sport. There's not been any updates on the condition of Rojas, but let's all hope and pray for the best.

Warning, it's quite disturbing and infuriating footage to watch. Timestamped.

DISGUSTING job by all of the people there. The referee, inspectors, doctors and Rafkis have to be taken out back and ****ing shot. Abysmal stuff.

Wtf so the ref just leaves him there? I think it's his trainer that rushes in and just flips him over and is constantly messing with his head throwing it all over. how can someone be that stupid seriously wtf then the doctor just takes his time getting there and does nothing to stop the trainer from throwing him around

I don't understand how the opposing fighter wasn't led out of the arena in cuffs. That wasn't any kind of accident or "heat of battle". He thought about it for a sec and then he hit him. One would think the ref would have some rudimentary training. Maybe he forgot it. The doctor? Maybe he earned his degree...maybe his old man had connections. Hope Rojas is ok after all.

**** me that was blatant, and handled criminally. This sport has been managing to disgust me several times lately, and has done so again. Demoralizing.

So what exactly was the verdict?

Hopefully Rojas can recover and beat his ass.

They DQ'd Encarnacion, so Rojas got the bittersweet win.

Rojas was declared the winner by DQ, but this was disgusting, the situation couldn't be dealt with in a worst way. Hopefully, Rojas makes a full recovery, my prayers are with him.

At-least they got that right. Hopefully it wasn't at the expense of his future health.

FFS, you can kinda understand to a point when a fighter throws a rabbit punch in the heat of an exchange or in response to a foul on him, but this dude spotted the opening when clearly the clinch was over and the fighters were about to re-set, pulled back his fist to throw the punch, paused for a moments thought and THEN decided to land it. Disgrace...

That was deliberate as hell. He literally went for the base of the skull, not even around the back of at least some solid skull.
That's straight up assault, Encarnación should be locked up for that.
