Who wins? Both known for their massive upset victories and exceptional performances that were never followed up with a similar one.

I’d go with Douglas on points, way too much quick movement to get caught in Ruiz’s exchanges

Tokyo Tyson was still a bigger attacking threat than MSG Ruiz. Douglas that night was a man posessed, not a muscle bound, hittable guy who looked on the verge of an anxiety attack on the way to the ring. Ruiz has always showed a solid enough chin so it's harsh to say he'd be stopped, but there's no chance of him doing anything other than losing against the Douglas who turned up in Japan.

I think tokyo tyson was a better fighter than msg joshua so I lean towards douglas. But I think ruiz stays on his feet and loses a decision

Douglas by way of stoppage, mid-to-late.

Ruiz runs out of ideas by the end of round-1 and the sheer volume of leather he'd be shipping would leave the referee little choice but to call a close by round-8.

Douglas by decision is my bet. He would quite soundly use his skill to move around The Blob and avoid any exchanges that did not suit him. Slightly competitive but pretty decisive. Douglas just has to be careful he doesn't get consumed for lunch.

Hard one to pick really, Ruiz in the Joshua fight looked like a boxer transported from the early 90's, his movement, counter punching, his boxing smarts. You could nearly see the grin on his face when he sussed out Joshua, and then set about the destruction of Joshua. Imo Douglas had the much better win vs Tyson and it was a much bigger upset. I can't see Douglas dropping Ruiz, but I can see Ruiz dropping Douglas, likewise Douglas had a great jab that day and was setting up his own shots. Ruiz figured out Joshua, that he could take Joshua's biggest shots so just countered off his power shots all night long until Joshua went down. Out of 5 I think Douglas wins 3 on decision and Ruiz wins 2 by KO, getting under or going through a Douglas set up and blasting away. 3 out of 5 for Douglas.

I pick Ruiz. I think the huge amount of weight he carried compared to Tyson would end up wearing on Douglas' stamina. Douglas' style wasn't to run so he would end up engaging with Ruiz and getting hit. Ruiz would only have to do a little bit better than Tyson to win. I think he would. Ruiz mid rounds stoppage while behind on the cards.

Full disclosure: I was at MSG on Ruiz's night.

Douglas beats the living hell out of him. TBH Ruiz doesnt belong in th same building of that version of Douglas. Neither does Joshua or Fury for that matter.

Tokyo James Buster Douglas would beat the Snickers out of Andy Ruiz. Douglas was in far better condition, was inspired by outside distractions, the passing of his mother, and the grave illness of the mother of his son. Buster did have better lateral movement, good combinations and did have better ability to absorb bombs. Buster by TKO 6.

The above is predicated on Ruiz being somewhere in the same class as Tyson - which he isn't.

It also relies on the idea that Tyson was ever really in the fight against Douglas, which despite the cards and bar round-8, was not the case.

I think MSG Ruiz would beat Tokyo Tyson.

Tokyo Douglas was worse than Joshua as evidenced by their career paths.
