I think so, it feels like a very long time now since the Wilder fight.
Honestly can not think of anyone I want to see him fight though apart from Joshua.

outside of the Wilder fights, Fury has fought nothing but tune ups. I suppose one more wont be the end of the world

Every tune up is a 6 month delay to making the biggest fight. No tune ups.

It's a long lay-off if it happens in May and, yes, there will be some ring rust.
But all evidence suggests Fury has stayed in shape, training and focussed.
He hasn't got fat again or retired.
It's not ideal but it's workable.

Tbh I still believe we’ll see Wilder vs Fury III before either guy faces AJ

He won't but he isn't fighting enough for me. Ali used to fight 4 times a year in the 70s. That's what champions do - fight- and not sit about about waiting for cash jackpots.

I reckon the more work Fury gets the better he looks.

I think AJ's 1-2's were looking faster and more fluid than before. I think he lands a few of those on Fury.
I think Fury will win but I wouldn't be surprised if I got surprised.
