To be fair, I don’t think the outcome would of been any different, even if Smith had 6 months notice.

Smith did as well as he could. Fair play to him grinding the 12 out. I predicted he would get stopped early to mid. I hope the Ryder rematch happens now. That’s a great domestic rematch that I would love to see.

Was always a hard ask and stylistically a hard task for callum, as well as canelo just being better. The size difference was if anything a massive disadvantage for callum, punching down takes away from your power, you can feel more open. Its a completely different level but sparring and fighting amateur i used to hate little stocky opponents, but know a lot of fighters who do make use of their height.

Canelos chin is A+, and yeh he probably is as juiced as mother****er and maybe that helps, but his lateral movement, the way he catches/rides shots combined with his chin and own variety of punching is beautiful to watch and almost unbeatable in the current landscape.

Tbh dont like all the "callum was exposed!" pony though. Canelos the p4p number 1, callums still a top fighter just not that in that very small group of elite. Its like some people think theres only the top ten p4p fighters in the world and everyone else is shite and mights well hang up there gloves

Levels. That was not even remotely competitive but credit to Smith for
lasting. BJS goes exactly the same way, if not stopped midway. Canelo is a beast at the weight.

You are ridiculously naive. You're watching professional sport, and you're rambling on about PED "cheats".

Wake up. You obviously know nothing about anti-doping policy and governance. Unbelievable.

I gave Smith the first round, and that was it. With such a size advantage, he didn't even bother trying to take advantage of that. I'd rather go out early or in the middle rounds actually trying to hurt Alvarez and win, rather than labouring my way to a 12 round UD.

If Callum Smith fought for 9 or 10 rounds with a ruptured bicep or tricep against Canelo that shows balls. Hearn believes it might have occurred blocking a punch in second or third round.

Why give Smith credit for lasting the distance? Even Khan put it on him more than Smith.

Smith just literally handed his belts over gift wrapped just in time for Christmas.

Like I don’t get his game plan there at all.

Before the fight, many people were saying he had a good chance of winning, he would be too big for Canelo and many thought he was an elite fighter.

Last night proved what @lencoreastside has been telling the forum for years - he is simply a standard plank.

Even little Amir Khan put up a better show before he walked into one.

Smith's best wins are against Rocky Fielding and an injured George Groves - the CV is awful.

Badly exposed last night and clearly just another average British fighter with a World Title Belt - so many nowadays the World Title has been totally devalued.

I've always said Smith is overrated. There is a reason they never really put him in with anybody as they were hoping for the big money. The WBSS came along offering that and the boxing gods shone on him that tournament.

If Smith steps up he is going to get iced by the top light heavies.

Fair play to Smith - showed grit and a good chin. Even boxing perfectly I don't think he could have won but boxing the way he did gave himself zero chance. By round 3 he was literally letting Canelo walk into range and he was trying to fight Canelo's fight. Just a complete nonsense of a gameplan. I don't like Gallagher but I wouldn't hammer him for the sake of it, but I didn't hear anything in the corner which I liked either

On second watch I think it's round 8 when it goes as he says something in the corner.

    Man the truth hurts.

You will find my posts are balanced with plenty of credit to those who deserve it eg Tyson Fury and Josh Taylor, huge credit for great fights such as Dilmaghani v Ziani and Taylor v Persoon, huge credit for great female boxers such as Katie Taylor, plenty of credit for upcoming very good female boxers such as Chantelle Cameron.

Boxing is rife with pay per puddings, rife with one sided fights versus puddings and the credit for the term 'Plank Smith' is the copyright of @lencoreastside - a man who knows his boxing.

If you don't like puddings being called out then boxing is not for you - it should be about evenly matched fights with the outcome uncertain.
