And that's just part of the reason Canelo deserved credit for that win.

    No. Stevenson lost to Beterbiev.

Kovalev was a top 5 LHW but he'd been knocked out twice and no one considered him the best in the division.

You mean Gvozdyk beat Stevenson, forgot about that.

Didn't really consider stevenson a champ as he did not face best of oppnenents imo

Beterbiev and Bivol definitely, but not Ward really. It wouldn't prove anything if he beat a mid 30's year Ward coming back after at least 4 years out.

I still want to see him against BJS as well. If he can beat him clearly, we can probably once and for all say that his stylistic problems with boxers are over.

Catchweights and rehydration clauses have existed for a long time and they exist for a reason. Canelo vs Bivol or Beterbiev would be such a reason.

Right. And if he beats BJS, it will be because BJS was fat and disinterested (which is probably the case now, to be honest).

Canelo vs Beterbiev at 175 without rehydration clauses has to be the endgame if Canelo does move up. Any narrative of "The fight can't happen becauae Beterbiev isn't a draw or a big name" is circumvented by the fact that Canelo is the biggest draw in the sport right now (apart from Joshua, at the very least).

bivol gives him 12 competative rounds.. Beterbiev gives him 12 bruising rounds.. canelo might win both but it be alot harder then smith.

Doesn't matter if canelo moves up beats the guys at 175 they will just say oh they weren't that good they had a stupid gameplan etc. Its not one damm fighter in the sport that anybody can say took on more challenges than canelo barring maybe pac. So stop the non sense canelo needs to move up again he is short as hell and started at 154 why should he move up to face guys the rehydrate to 190 on fight night when guys like GGG has never went up one division NOT ONE BUT IS TALKED ABOUT AS GREAT give me a break dude!

Dude your an idiot KO him? when have we seen canelo even alil hurt minus when he was drained at 154 lol GGG didnt hurt him at all but benevidez is going to ko him lmao ok dude! When have you seen canelo take combinations which is what benevidez is not a one shot its over power he would get countered to death throwing the combinations! Plus he would have had his chance if he had enough discipline to make weight he would still have his belt canelo wants to unify so would have fought him! Canelo has zero reason to fight some undisciplined fighter who hasn't beat anybody and gave up his belt on the scales how about suggesting he fight someone who he actually has a reason to fight somebody that chooses to make weight and keep their belt to fight the best not do coke and talk about who you can beat!!

Hard to say that given that GGG has never touched the canvas in his career. His style is all about balance and is built around it; stealthy approach forwards and attacking.

However, Canelo just seems to be getting better. I never thought that the 154lbs monster of 2016 would turn out to be the wrecking ball he is today.
