I honestly never rewatched this fight. I seen it live at an Irish Pub in San Francisco over on 6th Avenue, but they had something else going on that evening so the fight was just being played on some old TV mounted in the corner. usually this bar would put the fights on every TV and they even had a movie projector they would pull out for the bigger fights. but I remember the sound was either off, or it was just too loud in the bar to hear anything, but I remember thinking Bika was taking it to Calzaghe all night, and I honestly felt like it was a hometown decision. that was the first time I'd ever seen Bika, but he went on to be one of my more favorite fighters. I also always enjoyed Calzaghe and give him props for taking on such a dangerous opponent
No. Aside from it being an ugly, untidy fight with Bika having the odd bit of success with mauling tactics and use of his head to make Calzaghe a shade uncomfortable in some of the close quarters exchanges, Joe handled him with greater ease than any of Bika's other opponents, Ward included. If anything it showed what a physically strong and clever fighter Calzaghe was and how underrated his infighting ability was despite being a sloppy, slappy fecker. Calzaghes CV is poor by all time standards but this win has aged well imo and is a bit unappreciated.
