Of the current champs and contenders between 160-175 who do you think poses the most problems for Canelo? Here's how I'd rank the notable fighters out their 1. Beterbiev: Ferocious power high boxing iq and pretty decent size advantage I would pick him against Canelo. 2. Bivol: Pretty decent size advantage and very skilled boxer decent power would be a very tough night for Canelo. Theirs a reason the post fight presser after the smith fight Canelo said he wants to stay at 168 and 160. 3. GGG: Caused Canelo a lot of problems in both fights (arguably won both I had the first fight for GGG and the second a draw) he's been slowing down a bit but he's still dangerous and is a tough matchup for Canelo stylistically. 4. Caleb Plant: Very Slick boxer with good defense and footwork would definitely cause Canelos problems problem is I don't think he has enough power to gain Canelo's respect. 5. Benavidez: Pretty much the opposite of Plant his defense his lacking but he's got a lot of power and he could cause some issues for Canelo. 6. BJS: Pretty good fundamentals and footwork decent power too but I don't see what he brings to the table that Callum Smith didn't. 7. Charlo: Has improved a lot recently lots of power now at the moment though I haven't seen anything from him that would make me pick him over Canelo 8. Andrade: Unique style but he seems to lack the power or speed needed to beat Canelo IMO plus he hasn't really proven himself against the top guys at 160 imo. Of the 8 fighters I mentioned I would honestly only pick Beterbiev and Bivol against Canelo but who do you think would provide the toughest matchups out there for Canelo? Is there anyone at 160 and 168 you'd pick against him?
charlo is the fights the fans want! please not Caleb Plant!! have we learned nothing from the Calum Smith and Grorge Groves of the world??
Spot on. Charlo will fight to win. He's in his physical prime, well seasoned and undefeated. I don't think it's in his nature to not actually go for the win and be willing to go out on his shield - that's no small thing whatsoever as so very few ever actually do go for it. It's the fight that needs to happen. However, disagree on Plant. He has a nice skill set that could push Clenelo...but then again I could see him tasting that mexican beef heat and folding like all the rest of them. Beterbiev simply will not happen and I don't even blame Clen for that. Charlo, GGG, Plant (only after Plant is forced to fight Benadivez and IF he wins that fight)
Beterbiev - Nightmarish opponent. Bivol - Hard, but winnable. Plant - Walk in the park. Benavidez - Handful. BJS - Still a nightmare. GGG - Easier this time, but still not easy. Charlo - Fairly easy. Andrade - Incredibly easy.
Out of the available names only one opponent would be a favourite against Canelo, and that would he Beterbiev. If Canelo wants to continue to give us legacy defining fights he needs to fight Beterbiev next. *I had GGG winning both fights vs Canelo, but I don’t want to see a third. As we have seen, he needs to knock Canelo out to beat him.
Bivol would be great, two very different ways to be good and Bivol doesn't have so much power that it feels ridiculous. Benavidez, who I am a fanboy of, needs a little more seasoning to make it interesting. I'm not sure he has the mentality to take advantage of a learning experience loss. He should fight Plant. Jermall Charlo is as ready as he's getting. He makes a lot of sense as a 2021 matchup.
I doubt he's even considering fighting Beterviev, people say he's not known to casuals, don't have enough fans, but Smith does ? Canelo vs Beterbiev would sell at least as much as this fight agaisnt Smith did If Canelo fights BJS in feb, GGG in may and Charlo in Sep its good enough for me
