I'll tell you exactly what would happen. GGG would test positive, both his A-sample and his B-sample, and he'd be barred from the sport for life, and the spin machine would go into overdrive, and smear his legacy. Then Canelo would wash his of hands of it, and say "no more chance for Triple Geeee." Meanwhile, Canelo's positives, are quietly being put through the paper shredder and hard deleted.
Let’s get them both on the same regimen. Tainted beef and all. Different trainer for G, different strategy and game plan (assuming Sanchez had one). Have Banks stack the **** out of Golovkin’s wraps. Let the best man win. Cinco de Mayo 2021. 2.5 years too late, but better than never.
There is one person that doesn't want it. Canelo has still nightmares of the 10/11 round of the last fight vs GGG. Staggering around like a pissed sailor on his way to the queeer street.
This. Golovkin had him hurt in a couple of spots and it's clear that fighting GGG was no fun for Canelo at all.
Even tho it's clear that GGG has declined, I'm not sure there are any better challenges for Canelo that tick 'all the boxes' I do think that i'd like to see GGG move up and make the fight at 168. Not sure Canelo can easily get back to even 160, and think GGG is maybe now struggling to make 160 too. Anyway what are Canelo's alternatives? 1) Bill Joe Saunders - whilst skilled, and at his best could give Canelo a few problems, I don't think BJS has enough pop to get Canelo's respect. Nowhere near as big a fight money-wise 2) Caleb Plant - I really like this fight at 168, think Plant has a decent chance of posing more questions to Canelo than BJS. But again, not sure he cuts off the ring enough and fights with enough intensity/tempo. Again, probably even less of a money-spinner 3) Artur Beterbiev - would LOVE to see this one, but it's not going to make any financial sense, and whilst I don't think Canelo is afraid of anyone (don't think many boxes in the fight game are tbh) I think he is well advised and will understand that Beterbiev is huge risk/reward ratio. But if he's REALLY going for legacy it's probably the only one that arguable beats GGG 4) Jermal Charlo - if Canelo can get back to 160 then this one might tick some of the financial boxes, and Jermal deffo has some decent pop to gain Canelo's respect. But I don't think Jermal fights at a good enough pace to trouble Canelo too much. Quite possibly Canelo makes this one look a bit too easy 5) Dimitry Bivol - again another one that i'd LOVE to see, as Bivol has said he can make 168 easy enough. Bivol I think has great IQ and MIGHT be elite - but hasn't really proved it yet IMO. I'd rather see Bivol vs Beterbiev tbh. Again, this one doesn't really tick the finacial boxes I don't think. So back to GGG, i think from Canelo's POV, the 3rd GGG fight ticks a couple of boxes:- 1) Put all controversy to bed by being the first to stop GG or (shutout/clinic) 2) It's EASILY the most lucrative 3) Trilogies have quite a resonance in legacies traditionally. Is GGG so faded that he can't make the 3rd fight competetive? No, I don't think so - he's clearly lost a step, but at 168 maybe he would be more comfortable. GGG is still not an easy night's work for anyone, and one thing I think that can be guranteed - GGG will 100% b trying to win - no thoughts of fixes or cashouts, just don't see that as in his makeup. FWIW, I had the first fight for GGG 116-112, and the 2nd fight for Canelo 115-113. I have no dog in the race, but both fights were amazing top-tier quality fights with great back and forth action. For 3, sure, Canelo would be favourite, but can GGG make adjustments - i'm still perplexed why he didn't work the body more for example; but maybe Canelo was good enough to discourage him from that gameplan with his uppercuts and own body work. Still an intriguing match up, and of the list above, for me only Beterbiev or Bivol enhance Canelo's legacy more.
Whats the point if you can't beat Canelo on the cards. He lost fight 1 with GGG clearly, he arguably lost fight 2 as well. I mean GGG is now 38 so Canelo might be able to fight for longer per round than GGG and win convincingly on the cards but I don't have much interest in the fight really.
And yet in typical fashion after canelo beats ggg within an inch of his life you won't give him an ounce of credit for doing so and be full of excuses and hate after. Log off!
GGG v Canelo 3 is the only thing that makes sense. 1. GGG matches Canelo with boxing IQ. 2. GGG has the nuts to throw fire power at Canelo. 3. GGG has an iron chin. 4. The 2nd fight was a classic. 5. GGG will be coming to win, not survive. As a GGG fan...sadly I don't have much confidence that he could get the job done now. Canelo is hitting like a mack truck. GGG can stun Canelo though, we seen that in rounds 10/11 of the 2nd fight. Any other option for Canelo at 160-168 would be a cake walk.
Wow. What a great take. I honestly would love to see him fight Charlo. GGG would have been a good match a few years ago. Bivol is dangerous but not a big name. If he fought Plant—Charlo-Andrade that would be a good run of names.
Whats the point for canelo? If he wins hes the **** who killed an old man. If he loses hes the **** got killed by an old man. GGG is 39 in April, let him fight some up and comers, hand over the torch, collect his last 3 pay cheques from Dazn and retire with grace. Edited to add - unfortunately that is going to apply to all possible GGG opponents. Its a no-win scenario.
I understand your logic, but GGG is kind of like Pacquio at this point in his career. His skills and power are still elite level, GGG is still part of the top 2 at 160.
