You know Pinango had a very unorthdox style- almost at times looking very awkward and ungainly. BUT look at his record and he beat some very good boxers and was a champion. But I watched him and he throws these looping punches snd he looks slower tnen I expected. But I think its a case of looking easier to fight thens the case- looks easier on paper until you square off against him. When he beat Gervacio I was suprised because Gervacio was so much faster but he was able to land on Gervacio. He also out muscled Gaby who if nothing else is pretty strong. I think Lora with his speed jumps out in front and Pinango starts to land at those weird angles and I don't know if Lora has dealt with that before. Luis Mendoza jr.featherweight champion is also a boxer who you might want to check out-pretty slick boxer who was very smooth. Juan Jose Estrada too who actually beat Pinango and Mendoza.
I've seen both Mendoza and Estrada. I saw Estrada's win over Pinango. I'm constantly looking around for his win over Mendoza. Cermeno was another quality junior featherweight. BTW - Gervacio was highly talented. Did a real number of Louie Espinosa. Surprised he never did more.
This is a disservice to Lora. This is a guy who dominated prime Zaragoza to take the title and then defended it 7 times. He outclassed the picturesque technician Alberto Davila, as a champion would a beginner, on two separate occasions, He went head to head with Wilfredo Vazquez and beat him at his own game. He went to war kamikaze style against atomic bomber Antonio Avelar (fresh off serving the aforementioned Vazquez with his only career KO loss to that point) and knocked him out in 4. If he weren’t such an egotistical dickhead he would’ve certainly been an all time great. He wasn’t far off as it was. I honestly thought him as talented as Wilfred Benitez prime for prime.
I think Lora was one of the more talented bantamweights of all time, yes. Alright, mayne Pinango was better suited for another matchup I made, him versus Jorge Lujan.
