So GGG landed an average of 2.6 more punches per round (mostly jabs).

Canelo landed more power punches, and landed the cleaner punches.

And you think its a robbery?? LOL

    For perspective:

ODLH landed about 100 more pucnhes than Trinidad.
Whitaker landed 90 more punches than Chavez.

    Those were robberies.

I'm not really a Canelo fan bc he doesn't have a high enough punch volume for my tastes but I'm really starting to like him bc of how deranged he makes some people on this board.

for what its worth, i have a friend named paul nave who was a professional boxer. fought greg haugen three times. asked about both fights from a pro's perspective. for both fights, he said that he had GGG win both times. first was a little more wide while he had the 2nd VERY close.

Could you imagine how low Canelos self esteem must have been after the first fight? You clearly lose to an aged GGG, ON roids

    Idksab!

First viewing I thought Canelo swept the first 6 rounds and honestly stopped scoring after that, figuring he only needed one more round to secure the victory.

Just rewatched it the other day and focused more on the shots Golovkin was landing.. Golovkin landed a lot of punches that I didn't see first time out.

First was 8-4 Golovkin but second was closer like a draw 6-6 or 7-5 either.

Just watched this again, great fight.

I think how you score this depends on how much you value clean effective power shots, vs volume jabs.

Canelo was potshotting a lot, but didn't really sustain it for long enough for my taste, but scoring some nice eye-catching shots, especially quite a few to the body that i might have missed first time around, but from Round 4 onwards, after a very slow start, GGGs jab really started to land with increasing regularity and authority, and Canelo was being backed up on to the ropes, which Reynoso was really having a go at Canelo for in between rounds.

This time around, I tried to score 2 separate cards, neither which is my 'usual' way of scoring which is to try and score on a balanced of the above extremes - this time I went for the extremes; one for effective clean punching and slick defence - which favours Canelo, and the other for High aggression, volume scoring shots seeing the opponent back up - this obviously favours Golovkin.

Canelo-favoured scorecard had it 115-113 to Canelo.
Golovkin-favoured scorecard had it 118-110 to Golovkin.

It was obviously quite tough to score like this, wearing '2 extreme hats', but I can easily see why I ended up with my 116-112 original card.

I gave Golovkin rounds 9,10,11,12 - but Canelo can make a case for stealing those rounds to someone that really favours the slick effective punching - but that said, Canelo really only managed to sustain it for maybe 45-60secs of the round, and my normal scoring found it hard not to give it to Golovkin who I would say 'bossed' the rest of those rounds, without necessarily scoring any single shot better than Canelo.

Those kind of extremes lead to quite a wide range of scoring!

Considering some of the cards we have seen in recent years, prob not the best way to endorse yourself?

There was a lot of expectations that didn't get met for either fight.
Messed with the scoring for a lot of fans I think.
