It's so weird that they have attempted to shove this matchup down our collective gullets. Golovkin absolutely tees off on him for multiple rounds until Munguia's corner pulls the plug
GGG vs Munguia and Canelo vs Yildirim are not really what I want to see. I have an idea. If Munguia fights Yildirim and Golovkin fights Alvarez, people would be excited.
Yoooo I’m down for this as it’s guts and glory. This is a guarantee FIRE FIGHT. Would be like the Russian and Ninja Turtle Bradley
That would definitely make more sense for Mungo’s progression maybe catch GGG on his 40th. GGG vs Nelo 3 at this point would also make more sense to happen sooner rather then later. Won’t be too competitive much longer.
Great matchmaking by Golden Boy GGG is now really past his prime and there for the taking. This could propell Munguia into a star .
This would be a public execution for poor Munguia. He lacks the skills needed to beat Golovkin or at least give him a competitive fight.
This is a great fight! Mungia needs to work on head movement the reason Dervenchenko and Canelo in the second fight were able to have success is they effectively put GGG on the backfoot with solid defense. Mungia does bring the fight and put the pressure on but he eats a lot of shots to the head he damn near lost his last night because he chooses to slug it out in the pocket and not move his head at all. He can not afford to do that with GGG. I think GGG should be the favorite but Mungia can pull off an upset if he fixes the holes in his game. Mungia's got some serious power and he can hurt Golovkin too. GGG's got a great chin but when you get to 38 years old and you've been in the wars Golovkin has the right shot can put you down.
His lack of defense is scary for a pro. I would not count his completely out as he is a tough, powerful and sloppy brawler
LOL I posted almost the exact summary of your thoughts —-I 100% agree with you on all aspects of this fight This will be a BARN BURNER
Much more competitive fight now than it would have been 2 years ago. G still probably stops Munguia because Jaime is so defensively challenged, he doesn't pick his hands up after he punches and is constantly leaving his chin high. But GGG looked fairly slow and old to me last Friday, it's just that Polish fella was not good. He's nowhere close to being a world level operator, and I don't ever need to see that pillow fister again. Munguia destroys that dude also. I've always enjoyed watching GGG...but he looked all of 38 years old. It is what it is, but if I'm being objective, I'd say his days as an elite fighter are over. At least Jaime is big, long, aggressive, has some power and would show up to win. This would be a very entertaining fight and I'm down for it.
Won't be a slugfest. Golovkin is so much better technically that he's going to follow the Lemieux strategy: establish the jab, retreat when Munguia opens up and walk him into counters wherever he can. Tureano already showed that Munguia can be outboxed and Golovkin will 100% do the same thing. Against Szeremeta it seemed to me that Golovkin is finally clicking with banks and that he's focusing on slipping and countering more. Munguia needs to develop more before stepping up to this level. He's probably going to be a star but it won't be through Golovkin.
