Lets assume he has two routes. Scenario 1 - AJ faces Usyk for WBO Scenario 2 - AJ vacates WBO to face Fury Who would you like to see the juggernaut in with? Should probably be looking at 3 fights, given his age and current position.
Scenario 1 - Parker, tick over, Usyk/AJ Scenario 2 - midlevel fighter until chance for title shot (kuzmin/Price/Bakole)
If he gets the shot, Usyk for the WBO belt. If Usyk takes the step aside, then Joyce should fight Parker to cement the #2 spot. If none of this is feasible, I am sure he would love a run at Yoka.
Fury will never fight him. Usyk might, but after his poor outings against Chisora and Witherspoon I think he will stick with safe opponents until he can cash out against AJ may be he crashes the Hrgovic hype wagon? I dont think Hrgovic would fight him though. Joyce just too dangerous. I'd love to see him mix it up with that young Nigerian brother though
I'd like to see him hammer the final nail into the coffin of The Tuscaloser's career and send him back to the scrap heap where he belongs and has always belonged.
This is actually a really good call, but I think there is 0% chance of it happening. If Wilder can't get Fury again, he will either find another big-money cash-out, or crush cans until the winner of Fury Joshua is available. I'd like to see this fight.
If he's ambitious, he should strike while the iron is hot because there's a huge line for title shots and he doesn't seem to be anyone's darling. If he steps down, fights a journeyman or retread, he may not come back up. Usyk, Hrgovic, Parker, or Yoka would be good.
If Joshua vacates then obviously a unification fight with Usyk. Tall order as he lost to him in WSB but that was years ago and Joyce over 12 rounds will have a better chance of wearing Usyk out, but at his age there's no point in waiting around he may never get another shot at a title so take it if it's offered. If Joshua fights Usyk then Joyce's path is more complicated. Firstly I'd call out Fury, say he'd take the fight Joshua doesn't want, maybe he gets the fights chances are he doesn't as Fury treads water until Joshua is free to unify. First fight of 2021 for Joyce if he doesn't get a title shot would then for me be one to build on the momentum of the Dubois fight and build his UK profile and fanbase, no point treading water fighting easy fights. Whyte if he doesn't fight Povetkin would be a good option, think he has a chance vs Whyte. Parker is another good option as he's well known in the UK and only been beaten by Joshua and Whyte beating him would put Joyce in that club of only guys to beat Parker. But Parker is tied up with Fa fight which wouldn't shock me if it got postponed again. If Whyte and Parker are not available for early 2021 then Chisora is a good option, well known in the UK, proven at a certain level and Chisora as said he wants the Joyce fight so should be easy to make, another big UK fight with 2 guys who like to come forward usually so easy sell. Then once Joyce has raised his UK profile further by either beating Whyte, Parker or Chisora he needs to improve his standings in the sanctioning bodies. He'll likely be the WBO mandatory after Joshua/Usyk but with the winner likely fighting Fury and also the other mandatories before the WBO mandatory he could be waiting a couple of years at least. Call out the winner of Povetkin/Whyte who will be WBC mandatory if he didn't already beat Whyte, call out Wilder too, though obviously no chance he agrees a fight but he's still ranked highly by the WBC. Martin should be IBF mandatory after Pulev's recent loss so that's another fight he should chase but again I suspect Martin will sit on his mandatory facing stiffs, if he fights at all that is. Forget the WBA route, we have Charr as regular WBA champion though he hasn't fought since 2017 when he won the regular belt so not sure if that's even an option. Del Bryan too has been inactive sitting on his number 1 ranking. So I suspect the WBA route to remain frozen in time until the WBA mandatory comes up, if it ever comes up, WTF is going on with the WBA lol.
I would wait to see what happens between fury and Joshua. If he wants a fight while waiting then Marco huck would be decent. I think by March we will know if fury v Joshua are fighting. Get huck for May and then fight usyk for the vacant belt in September. No chance he fights 3 times. If Joshua is fighting usyk, then he will have to fight in May so huck would still be ok. Then possibly Parker or chisora in September and see how the division looks after.
Either way I want him to fight Usyk. If aj vacates they can fight for strap but if not I'd like if Usyk would take the risk route and fight joyce and then the winner fight winner of fury aj. Other opponents I'd like to see him against are ruiz parker or helenius
