your snarky little comment about his jaw indicates you've probably never laced up a day in your life. I will concede Kirkland did get tagged and did hit the deck on more than a few occasions, but the man only knew one way to fight, and that was always forward, never back down, never give ground and never retreat... his fight with Alfredo Angulo was epic, a huge win for an American fighter going into Mexico into hostile territory and getting off the canvas to knock out a fighter who was highly feared at the time and regarded as an all out killer.....it was JK who shattered that mystique and against Canelo he got KOd cause he came at Canelo firing artillery...he fought Canelo like a man, he wasnt there to play patti cakes for 24 rounds then cry like a girl that he got robbed like GGG. you should show a little more respect when you speak on the man next time I had the great pleasure of attending a Kirkland fight in San Jose about 11 years ago. his opponent was some highly touted puerta Rican guy at the time who Kirkland manhandled over 6 rounds. it was on a Robert the Ghost Guerrero undercard I believe
his fight with Nobuhiro Ishida was epic, a huge win for an Japanese fighter going into the USA into hostile territory to knock out a fighter who was highly feared at the time and regarded as an all out killer.....it was NI who shattered that mystique
Kirkland is a Glass Jawed fighter. No five paragraph essay or excuses you make will change that. Kirkland has no Chin. None.
I'd rather watch Kirkland fight like a man against Canelo and get KTFO a thousand times before sitting through another borefest of GG afraid to let his hands go in the pocket
Nobuhiro Ishida (石田 順裕, Ishida Nobuhiro, born August 18, 1975 in Kumamoto, Japan) is a Japanese former professional boxer. He is a former WBA interim super welterweight champion who is best known for knocking out James Kirkland in a middleweight bout at the MGM Grand Las Vegas in April 2011.
Kirkland obviously has glass jaw. Glass jaws exist in boxing and we WILL discuss them on ESB. Get over it fanboy.
Kirkland is scum. I still remember the footage where he brutalized a totally overmatched sparring partner. I am pleased he got KTFO again, hopefully this is not the last time.
El Gallo Dumbo seems to think otherwise. Obviously not operating with a full deck though. He thinks James Toney would have beaten both Klitschkos.
if you are best known for KOing a guy who supposedly has a "glass jaw", I guess that's not all that much to write home about is it now
Kirkland had a very high contact style and wasn't going to go far at world level for that reason and due to so-so skills. But he was a tough SOB and came to win, so I respect him as a warrior. As mentioned above, his brutalizing a sparring partner made me lose respect for him and Wolfe as people, tho, and I hope she doesn't get to train another notable fighter.
