You'd fancy Price to beat Dubois - seriously? For me he would get taken out inside 5 or 6 rounds. Price has a bomb of a right hand and it's an equaliser against anyone but in the last few years he's reluctant to let it go like he should. Price should steer clear of that fight at this stage of his career. Try and get a Lucas Browne or someone like that.
This. If his stamina was naturally that bad he probably wouldn't have turned pro and there were would have been rumours about it like there was about his chin that turned out to be true. Price seems relaxed and confident in interviews but once he steps in the ring he's a tense, nervous wreck. Might have been down to nobody giving him a chance against Povetkin therefore reduced pressure and expectations making it easier to relax and breathe. It's all psychological with Pricey, well apart from his glass chin obviously.
Pricey needs some other domestic level big names to make some more paydays, if the promotors can't craft that then he's not going to do much beyond this point. Like in the 00s there was that circle of Williams, Skelton, Sprott, Mcdermott, Fraudley, and the irish cab driver. All were domestic/fringe Euro level but made decent paydays from each other without taking too much damage (relatively).
Why doesn’t a promoter put together a 8 fighter British HW tournament. You could include the following- David Price Fabio Wardley Dom Akinlade Nathan Gorman Kash Ali David Adeleye Nick Webb Mark Bennett
My theory was based upon Daniels loss and maybe, just maybe being tentative and lacking confidence after the Joyce defeat. If Price could land some artillery early, I fancy the stoppage. I suppose you could make that case for DDD next opponent regardless of who it is.
Respect Price and would love to see him come back. His career has been an interesting one to follow and there can be an argument made that his record is a bit of a harsh reflection on his ability without looking at the facts. Think he still has enough ability that with a full camp could ask questions of most fighters. Ironically I think that having a fight in a no crowd show would have potentially helped him.
No matter how much of a lack of confidence Dubois has, tripple that with Price who has not only been stopped, knocked out but also quit
I like David Price and wish him all the best, but Dubois on his return (whenever that may be) would be just about the last opponent Price would want to be up against. It would not be a particularly big money fight, no title on the line, Dubois would have everything to prove and will go in there determined not only to win but to win with a big KO. I don't fancy David Price taking any of those shots which Joe Joyce took rounds 2-7 without his legs going. I think Price is considering, and is close to retirement. He alluded to it in an interview this year. One more KO loss, especially a bad one would finish him off, hopefully he suffers no ill effects from it whenever it happens and can enjoy his retirement he has earned it.
Price has taken a lot of damage in the ring which could haunt him down the line. He was exciting to watch but he's taken his punches and had his chances. I'd be very happy to see him retire. Nice lad as well is Price.
He actually hasnt taken much apart from 4 to 5 ko's. Not to downplay that or anything because it's not good but I bet you Holyfield took more damage in the 3 Bowe fights than Price did his whole career.
That's just what we have seen on the tv. He was definitely stopped in the amateurs a few times not to mention what goes on in the gym.
