Fury does have potential but We really dont know what level Fury is at present, he was elite preretirement. Hasnt beaten a quality opponents in 5 years and has been fighting poor opposition. If Fury was to be beat a Povetkin, Hunter, Whyte, Ruiz, etc It would prove he is a world level. If Fury beats AJ then he would certianly be elite.
2 time unified heavyweight champion of the WORLD, how is he not world class? You probably misused the term.
I totally agree. A prime Vladimir would have ironed out AJ 9 times out of 10 and Fury will school him and KO him and expose him for a good fighter that he is but not one of the true greats.
You don't half talk some rubbish. If you are at the top of your sport, then you are World Class. Being a World Champion of any sport usually underlines this point. Even to the thickos.
Not in boxing because there is more than one champ per division, until AJ beats Fury he`s not the best in his division and he`s not as good as titlist`s like Bud or Canelo, there have been plenty of world champs that weren`t world class.
That's your opinion - I think most would say the Wilder win, especially on away soil and against a reigning champion, puts him right up there. Klitschko and Wilder are two excellent wins. We all know you don't rate Wilder's 'resume', but despite his limitations many would use the eye test to measure the quality of that win. I think it's ridiculous to say he hasn't beaten a quality opponent in 5 years after what he did to Wilder. Regardless what you think of Wilder's 'resume', no other fighter has taken it to him and beaten him in that fashion. I'm a bit confused what your metrics are here, is Saunders 'elite' based on his 'resume' or his potential?
It depends how you're measuring it. People will always make the boring argument about not being 'elite' compared to Tyson, Ali, Lewis etc but we can only compare him to the era he was born in. He can only beat what's in front of him. As it stands, in this era, he's clearly world class and at the top of the sport.
The argument was "World Class", not "the best in the division". People could equally argue that until Fury beats AJ... I am a fan of both as it happens so may the best man on both nights win. Any World Champion, be it Boxing, Rugby, Football, Cricket, Athletics, Snooker, etc is World Class, even if only for that moment when victorious. The clue is in the word "World" which appears in both contexts. Being a World Champion in any sport is the pinnacle of their career. Where else can you go to be considered World Class beyond a World Title?
The eye test lol This term as just come round people using it a lot was not heard of ten twenty years ago
Boxthing is a brutal bizthness DETHRONING TWO LONG REIGNING WORLD CHAMPIONS AWAY FROM HOME IN THEIR PRIME - some mothers do av em
Tony Dosh PPV has a CV full of puddings mate - he will get the credit should he beat Fury, Wilder and Usyk. World Championship belts mean very little these days after the gross devaluation due to so many belts. Fighters such as Pudding Charles Martin, Pudding Stiverne, Rocky Fielding and Chris Eubank Jnr all World Champions - an absolute insult to the elite fighters and legends of boxing.
