Who were the top 10 Brit fighters of all time and how well would they do if active in today`s game?

I don't know about naming 10 but Joe Calzaghe would clean out the 168 division right now, Alvarez included, even with bust up hands.

 

There's several threads where plenty of us have put top 10 lists together.

Generally speaking, it's very difficult to say how pre-war greats like Jimmy Wilde or Ted Kid Lewis would do in today's game.

Buchanan would stand a good chance against anyone at 130, where he'd probably be fighting with day before weigh-ins. Likewise, Conteh at his best would be at or near the top at 175; Beterbiev would be difficult but winnable for him. Calzaghe as noted would be the top fighter at 168, so it would just be a question of whether you fancy him to beat Canelo.

Hamed would rule at 126, and Lennox likewise at heavyweight. Prime Honeyghan against Spence and Crawford would be very interesting and I'd have to think a bit deeper about that.

So you would put Warrington and Frampton on the same level as Barrera?

The very best Hamed smashes Warrington to bits in Steve Robinson like fashion if not worse, too easy to hit and I doubt Frampton's beard would hold all that well against Hameds power.

It's common knowledge that the Hamed who fought Barrera had struggled with the weight, was unmotivated and had been on the verge of jacking the fight game in for some time.

The one thing that Hamed was legitimately is a dynamite puncher and neither Frampton or Warrington are decent defensively.

 

Hamed beat plenty of light-hitting pressure fighters - Bungu, McCullough, Ingle to name a few. It wasn’t a bad style for him. I don’t think Warrington has much to trouble him with.

Speed and range were more problematic for him. Frampton would be one of the few feathers who wasn’t significantly taller than Hamed, and again I don’t think he matches up too well against him.

A-Force Harrison would clean up the dossers of the Heavyweight division.

 

Anyone else hate threads like this? No offence @mark ant and I'm not trying to be rude. Just seems a bit pointless. There's no way of knowing so all these threads seem to be is speculation. I find it pretty dull.

Jimmy Wilde was a flyweight with 98 KOs from 131 wins. He was more beastly than Inoue. He'd be knocking everyone out if he was about now, no doubt about it.
