Some say Roy Jones Jr. but his chin wasn't glass. If that's the case, what about Tommy Hearns and Lennox Lewis? I wouldn't really say any of them had glass chin though. Far from iron jaws though.

Where`s the evidence Jackson had a glass jaw, McCallum could bang at 154, just ask Curry and G-man was a killer.

Every big puncher he's been in with since has either rocked him, or knocked him out, thus making him the Glass Mandable Fighter Of Boxing History!

 

McCallum could bang, McClellan could definitely bang. Taylor, Phillips, and Jones? Not known as huge punchers. Yes, Jackson was starting to decline when he fought Taylor and was definitely past-prime vs. Phillips and Jones. Jackson was able to get people out before they got him out most of the time but when his reflexes started to fade he started to get hit more... his chin didn't hold up. He was still hurting people, he dropped Taylor but Taylor shouldn't have been able to do to Jackson what Jackson did to him... but he did, and more. He was able to do so because of Jackson's lack of chin.

Jackson was a good fighter and had great power, he wasn't known for his durability though.

Possessing a glass jaw and not possessing a good chin are 2 different things.

If you look at the knockouts that he suffered, apart from the Johnson one, those punches would probably have knocked out most other fighters from those weight classes at the time.

Lewis was a great fighter, with a fatal flaw, as you have noted. He is my choice for greatest glass jawed fighter. Not the worst chin of all time, but clearly shaky.

 

Roy Jones Jr. is the best a answer, but Junior Jones deserves mention.

I can't agree with that. I don't care how fast you are, or how good your reflexes are. No body goes through a 10-15 year career, and 4 weight divisions and"hide" a glass jaw. It doesn't work like that. Ruiz at heavyweight caught him with a right hand, and the "glas" didn't shatter. Before you say Ruiz wasn't a big puncher. He punched hard enough, he dropped Holyfield, he had very respectable power. He certainly wasn't on the level of Chris Byrd as a puncher. You don't fight skilled boxer punchers like McCallum, Reggie Johnson, B hop, Toney, Sosa, or even Gonzales and not get caught. I missed a bunch more i'm sure.

I like this answer, as some have mentioned Jones was at veteran stage and had been up and down in weight when he started getting laid out and he fought bona fied great fighters during his career. A guy like Joshua has won 3 heavyweight belts beaten fighters like Klitschko, Povetkin and Whyte with what I think is a china chin. Hearns chin was suspect but look who he fought and against Hagler he was dog tired before he got laid out. I feel like Hearns was the greatest with a suspect chin, just not sure if it was pure 'china'. I really feel like Joshua is packing 'pure china'. I think Kovalev did well with a suspect chin.

 

Both Mundine Sr and Jr are clearly the greatest 'ausssie' boxers who were 'packing china'. China of the finest vintage.
