Floyd Mayweather Jr is now inactive as a professional boxer so we can compare him to the past greats LOL he doesn't hold a candle to Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson in terms of popularity, notoriety, fame, recognition, or any other word that's used to describe how well known someone is. Ali may have been the most recognizable human on Earth at one point. People in remote villages knew who he was. His legacy is beyond boxing. Tyson was around that level as well if not a shade below it. He's levels below the boxers in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. I can name maybe 30 boxers from the top of the head who are beyond Mayweather in popularity. Boxing is not that popular in America today so he likely is the biggest star in America ... It's either him or Wilder peak for peak.
