If he's turned down the offer, and the fight doesn't come off, he has turned down the fight. If the fight does come off and he gets more money then fair play to him. But Crawford is the one with the higher ranking, the P4P status, the belt, he shouldn't have to chase Porter.

Crawford is the number 2 in the division. So yes I put him behind Spence.

Duck doesn't mean scared, I don't believe Porter is scared of Crawford. But for whatever reason, his team has turned it down. If this is a deal breaker, this is a duck.

Porter warrants and has obtained $1 million plus purses against fighters that have: 1. less significance than Crawford, 2. No popularity or fan base to speak of, 3. a promoter with a smaller wallet than Crawford. This was a bull**** offer, there's really no other way to spin it. It's a significant fight and the purse should reflect it's significance.

Imho it's at the same time a lowball and an oportunity.

The problem here is that porter knows that he stands no chances, so no actual oportunity there, he just wants the money in exchange for the beating.

People here have already said that they dont blame him. Neither do I.

A hungry young lion with actual chances would take no matter the offer, beat the hell out of crawford, take the belts and win the money in the next one once he has the belt in his pocket. But porter cant do it. As I said, I think he does the right thing asking for the money. Even if I'd prefer him to accept because I want to watch the fight.

But even though, crawford has only one belt, so it's more a lowball than an oportunity, if I think things coldly.

I don't buy that Porter is scared of anyone. He's faced a who's who of the welterweight division - Alexander, Brook, Garcia, Spence, Thurman, Berto, Broner.

Whether he is playing hardball or whether he has just reached the stage where he can't motivate himself other than for a mega-offer I don't know.

Well of COURSE he made more fighting Garcia!

...Garcia has a sizable fanbase outside of his immediate family. That pays for his fights, even! :risas3:

Yeah and you will be the first one hear saying Crawford should accept a 30/70 split with Spence. No "lowball there". BHAHAHAHAHA.

Arum doesn’t like airing his official dealings. If you;ve watched his interviews, he avoids these number’s because people will be coming to him with a “but this guy got that amount” shtick. He’ll offer Porter more than a mil when he actually makes an offer. Don’t be too hung up on what he told an interviewer and Porter’s response to that circulating number.

This is just my opinion though, we’ll see in the coming days.

I might have missed something, but seems like everyone is rather quiet about that fight. Seems like there might be actual negotiations going on.
If they had negotiated and it had failed, I imagine we would have already heard about it.

I don’t think he’s afraid to fight anyone I think he’s just negotiating and trying to get the best deal he can because he doesn’t have a lot of time left in his career.

Why get upset about it? Are we so desperate for quality matches that we need to goad Porter to fight Crawford? Who cares about Porter anymore if he wants to fight him he'll fight him, if not then he can sod off and Crawford finds another opponent. It's a terrible matchup anyways.
