It wouldn't surprise me if there's been a few, but a well done one about Harada would be cool. Also some of the murderer's row guys like Lloyd Marshall.
I am in talks to do a Harada one. I’m meeting him in June and before then anticipate that I’ll have a lot of archives and Japanese language books on Harada translated.
I know a Saad one is being written probably out in 2022. Also a Little Red one is being planned but didn’t hear any more than that. Hagler has his autobiography coming out maybe as early as June. Those three would have been in my choices along with Bobby Chacon, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Bennie Briscoe, Frank Fletcher, Mike McCallum. My plans beyond the Jofre book call for Harada, Olivares and Zarate with their input.
Not to cast shade but a definitive Duran bio would be great. Something scholarly in deeply researched. Julio needs a bio, too.
I will name a couple. If there's already a biography out on them someone please shoot me a link. Oakland Billy Smith...he was never a champion or an ATG, but guys like him are who added depth to boxing's most historic era. believe he fought Charlie Burley a bunch of times. I also dig guys who name themselves after the city they are from, especially if we're talking Bay Area joe Chowinski...another Bay Area guy who knocked out Jack Johnson and then trained him how to box when they were both locked up together....seriously, there should be s Hollywood movie about this guy!!! He had a great career in general, during a very unique era, and was one many great fighters from SF in the early days. sadly, with all of the boxing history from SF youd expect there to be a boxing museum somewhere in the city, but there is not. most of the historic venues are long gone, but Cow Palace is still there today
