Would Kid Gavilan Be Regarded More Highly if He Wasn't So UGLY?!

Mike Tyson is popular and highly regarded and he’s got a head like a dropped pie so it can’t be the Kids looks.

He was a black fighter in the 1950s ....he could have looked like Adonis Creed and it wouldn’t have made a difference

 

He was popular because he was exciting ...not because of what he looked like

 

He is highly regarded....I’ve never seen a top ten welterweight list without him on it ...or a top 100 pound for pound...casual boxing fans don’t count

 

I recall a moment in the 2nd Bratton fight I believe, where he pressed Johnny from a low crouch across the full length of the ring, bobbing and weaving the whole way at rapid speed, with his feet a blur. The entire sequence must’ve taken 2 seconds tops. It reminded me of something from the recent remake of IT. Genuinely terrifying.

Now that I think about it, he actually kind of looks like Skarsgard’s rendition of Pennywise.

 

Look at Oscar Delahoya....he’s become unappreciated as time goes by

I think that he managed to (fairly or unfairly) take a huge dump on his achievements due to his post-boxing-career antics.

 

Nah, appearance doesn't matter, GGG is one of the most popular modern boxers and he looks like Tweety.

 

I think the real question is ; "WHAT WOULD CLASSIC BE IF IT DIDN'T HAVE DUMBASSES ASKING INANE AND CHILDISH QUESTIONS?"
