Have to say, I enjoyed last nights show. Garcia vs Campbell was a genuine main event, and very entertaining. The two title fights supporting it were toe to toe and although knowing little about all four fighters I would watch them all again. So from a core product it was very good. BUT The US commentary team were horrific, as bias as Sky. Totally missing punches from the away fighters. The constant De La Hoya references were infuriating. And, any production with Gareth ****ing Davies has to be questioned. Switching to Gareth Davies and Hatton in the middle of a fight between a Nicuraguan and a Venezuelan, when they clearly had never clapped eyes on them was ludicrous. For DAZN to work properly are they going to need to change their commentary/pundits?
I think throughout there were comparisons to De La Hoya, Ray Leonard, Mayweather and Pacquiao - horrible and so hyperbolic. I think you could tell in this and the Canelo fight there are still obvious problems, production-wise, too. Hopefully they iron them out.
It was horrendously clunky the link was clearly 3 seconds behind when Gutierez knocked him down in the final round. Added absolutely nothing
What is wrong with going over for an opinion from Grandmother Greta A Davies and who ate all the pies Hatton?
That one weirdo who kept going on and on about how good looking Garcia is. It was all he could talk about. Needs locking up in the cell next to Adam Smith.
The bias shown on the commentary last night - and on most DAZN cards, frankly - was shocking. It was a good fight card and an exciting main event. Just another reminder of how much I miss HBO Boxing.
It's unwatchable and I am currently in negotiations with customer service to get a full refund of my £1.99 (escalated matter to senior manager). I encourage you all to do the same.
There are plenty of boxing watch-a-long shows already. Ade did one last night (although I find myself disagreeing with Ade's points quite often) My main gripe with these is the poor sound recording equipment and zoom call sound quality. If they could sort out the sound I would be all over it.
First time watching DAZN last night. I really enjoyed the fights last night and it was good value for 1.99. But for a company that's output solely consists of boxing at the moment weirdly the production appeared to be aimed at everybody but boxing fans. Constantly talking about fighters looks, instagram, stars in the making, teen girl fans, youtube, fighters doing it for their dead mother, cutting to opinions from people watching a stream 15 seconds behind in a dead even fight. Saying it once as an observation to make an audience aware of it is fine but it felt as if they were repeatedly battering you over the head with this dumbed down sycophantic nonsense.
