I think Philly mag had an article on the golden age of Philly middleweights. Don Stradley just wrote a book on Monzon. It’s short but an excellent read. There was also a Kid Chocolate book written in English but Kindle only.

Memory says it was only a decent read and not a great one. But certainly worth it for nostalgia. Memory also says the author made a bigger deal out of the Cobb Vs Norton fight than it warranted.
Dartford Lightweight Dave Charnley was a huge name in British Boxing in the late 50's and early 60's. Reg Gutteridge devoted a chapter of his book The Big Punchers to him and all the serious national newspapers published obituaries when he died but there was never a book about him. I read that Dave was a ferociously private guy but his story in and out of Boxing was compelling. After Boxing, he rose to become a multi millionaire property developer. If you haven't heard of Charnley, just take a look at his record. Jim Watt often mentioned him as an influence.
Four pages in and no love for Ryan Garcia? Bunch of casuals. I would like a definitive 'Last days of Salvador Sanchez' and a no holds barred one on Valero. I'd just love to know what happened, or possibly could have happened, with Sanchez. There are rumours of foul play and his car being shunted, a mystery mistress - good juicy fare. As for Valero, I hate myself for wanting to read about a wife-beater and a bully but I find him fascinating. I also don't know much about South American politics, history and culture and he seems very closely rooted to it. His story might shed some light on parts of South America so it would kill two birds with one stone. A book on the ill-fated Argentines - Monzon, Galindez and Bonavena - might be nice.
Alexis Arguello of course. The politics of his country, the legendary fights, his rise in the politics of his country, drugs, untimely death. Actually he should have a movie made about him!
This, we need more on lesser known fighters and the lighter weights. A Harry Jeffra one would be nice and Jimmy Carter
Yeah, it's a shame. Great subject matter that the author simply seemed to lose interest in. They (Arguello, Gomez) deserved better than that half-azzed effort.
There is a book on Valero written bu the same guy who wrote the Killed in Brazil book about Gatti. If you enjoy gossip it seems that writer does aswell.
