What division would he be fighting at today? I know he comfortably made 135 for a while, you think he’d be boiling down more or bulk up today?

My guess would be 140-168 throughout his career but not sure

I don't know much about SRR's weight, but if he "comfortably" made 135 on a same day weigh in, he could weigh in today at 10-15 pounds less with a day before weigh in, and fight the next day weighing 135 or more. So he could fight at 122 or 126. Disciplined fighters routinely take out 10-15 pounds of water on a day before weigh in and then adding it back by fight time.

Agree, he's tall, so I suspect it would be 126 into 130 pretty quick but he might never fight at middleweight today and would go nowhere near light-heavyweight.

I know but boiling down to 122 at his height sounds insane

Seems crazy, but athletes in weight limit sports don't really lose weight permanently, they just take out water and then replace it. Sometimes they look skinny and weak with the water out at the weigh in, but when they hydrate again, they fill out quickly. Whatever a boxer or wrestler weighed for a same day weigh in, he could remove 10-15 pounds of water the day before and add the water back after the weigh in and weigh as much or more than he usually weighed at fight time. SRR today, if he "comfortably" made 135 could take out 10-15 pounds of water, weigh in, then add the water back and fight at 135 or more the next day. Weight cutting is a science for boxing and wrestling, sometimes they miscalculate, but usually they get it right.

Ray would not have gone above Welter. He wouldn't have needed to.

He would have way more muscle today due to modern nutrition and sports science. I'd say he would have started at 154 in his first 2 or so years in the pros but would then be a 160-168 fighter

Probably about 27 pounds. Unless you weigh the casket.

He would have went where the $ is. Whatever division that was outside of heavyweight.

I think his best division Welterweight and Jr. Middleweight would have suited him perfectly. At 154 he wouldn't have to worry about bigger, physically stronger guys mauling him like a Fullmer or Lamotta. He couldn't be outboxed so guys had to be physical.
In theory SRR could have won titles belts at 130-168 and maybe 175 depending on who was up there. I don't think he would have stayed at Lightheavy long.

105lbs. He would be having legendary wars with Big Wang and Knockout CP Freshmart.

They would, provided they got the old 'Thai food poisoning' down on Sugar Ray.

I would also like to see Ray war with Takayama, 3k Battery and 'Big Boy' Rocky Marciano.
