cardiff calzaghe v pavlik??after jones fight.

If he beats Jones and then fights Pavlik in Cardiff then he deserves all the praise going.

I'm gutted he's taking the Jones fight over Pavlik (even if it means my first trip to MSG) but beating Jones and Pavlik before retiring and nobody can have any complaints.

 

Word on the street is that there is a rematch clause getting worked out for RJJ.

 

Jones has eluded to this a number of times. He said he'd like to fight one on Joe's turf and one in the states

 

I think JC - KP is Cardiff is very likely.

i do not like the sound of a rematch clause with jones though...

 

I'd agree, but I don't think this fight happens. It would have made more sense the other way around. Pavlik BEFORE he vacated his belts. There was more money to be made. Pavlik at the gardens and RJJ in Cardiff would have been the order.

 

I still think he'll fight Pavlik. The only other possibility, should Joe decide to have one more fight after Jones would be a fight with Tarver, if he himself was to beat Dawson. Can't see a Calzaghe/Dawson fight selling. But i'm pretty positive Joes "cashing out" fight will be in Cardiff.

 

Imperial1 said he was going to call out Suger Ray Lenord if he gets past RJJ. That would make sense with his current trend.

 

Well if he beat him that it'd make it 3 ATG HoFers in a row and solidify his legacy as a top 20 ATG:smoke

Let's make a couple of assumptions. First, let's assume there is only one Jones fight. Next let's assume Winky really does turn out to be Pavlik's next opponent as recent talk suggests. Pavlik will beat Winky, and Abraham will beat Marquez. So, Calzaghe, Pavlik, and Abraham all win. The problem for Joe is that the Pavlik/Abraham fight is all but made. It's just timing. HBO has it on tap for January. Arthur just has to do his mandatory and fulfill some obligations to German TV. They'll fight in January, and Pavlik will close the show inside 8 rounds. Pavlik gets sharper and closer to his peak while Joe gets older and further from his. Joe had his chance, but opted for another opponent from the nursing home division. Pavlik/Calzaghe won't happen.

 

Great points. Been saying the same thing, but everybody keeps thinking Calzaghe will fight Pavlik after RJJ. Would love it, but not gonna happen.

 

I doubt Calzaghe will be up to fighting Pavlik after RJJ beats him like a drum.
