If Steele would have boxed more in his career I would pick him, but he was much more of an offensive moving puncher. Fred Apostoli was countering him a lot so I don’t know how the heck Steele could outbox Walker and avoid getting countered too much, especially given Walker’s great chin
Nope, mine is dead and the only other one i know of, that being sundaypunchers, is an absolute cesspool of the most casual, worst and mildly racist boxing takes
2 x fighters from the 30's & earlier who pass the eye test on film. Most people will know about Mickey Walker, so I'll just add Freddie Steele looks extremely impressive in footage to me: Observe how he utterly dominant he is against a truly world class MW in Vince Dundee - This content is protected An excellent highlight package compliled by our own @haNZAgod - This content is protected
Dundee was obviously a Tough Durable fighter who probably 'took a lot of punishment to win"... and God knows he fought A LOT. However the few times I've seen Good Film of him, he looks a Poor Fighter indeed, with near no natural Boxing ability. Steele, on the other hand, was the real deal!
