Name some defensive fighter who's power goes fairly unnoticed. My picks are: Walcott Leonard Mayweather (as PBF) Judah
Some you Did Mayweather fight anyone CLOSE to RJJ in physical ability in their prime? Better question how many prime ATG's did he face. It's a real easy question if your honest with self.
I think Pernell Whitaker hit harder than his reputation suggested. A lot of people considered him to be feather-fisted. But he always hit hard enough to get the attention of his opponents, even if he didn't KO them. Ray Leonard was a really good puncher. But I do think he got credit for it during his time. Sometimes I thought the expectations on Leonard as a puncher were, in fact, too high.
Archie Moore Charley Burley Bernard Hopkins at MW Terence Crawford (though he needs to improve his defense further)
Nobody qualifies with this criteria better than Jones Jr. I know he’s hard to pin down to a particular style, but I think that’s precisely because he had such vicious power. He fought as a defensive counter puncher/cutie far more often than not until he had his man hurt. Also why he was so difficult to solve, and a far better ring tactician than he gets credit for.
Judah was prime and Floyd ages too. Actually, Floyd was more past prime than Pacquiao was because Floyd had clearly lost more speed and reflexes than Pacquiao had
He could do some damage with his left hand when he loaded up on it. He unified the LW title on a one punch KO, briefly rocked Chavez with his left hand, turned it around against Hurtado with his left hand, etc... He was an excellent bodypuncher too.
