Which of these boxer vs boxer match-ups would be the most exciting: 1 - (Prime) Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes 2 - Floyd Mayweather vs Pernell Whitaker 3 - Bernard Hopkins vs James Toney 4 - Winky Wright vs Erislandy Lara 5 - Andre Ward vs Joe Cazalghe 6 - Jimmy Young vs Chris Byrd 7 - Tyson Fury vs Joe Bugner
I've always wondered how a 1967-68 Ali and a 1979-1980 Holmes fight would turn out. May have been a pretty good match up with Ali coming out on top by points... #3 is pretty interesting too
I think I would most enjoy watching Sweetpea make Mayweather miss most of his punches, then get robbed on the decision. I can see the look on his face now as the scores are read and he has to lower his upheld arm in disbelief.... yet again. Ali-Holmes would be a great one too. As would Hopkins-Toney.
Most exciting?... Ali-Holmes by a country mile. But, I would be interested in watching how Ward-Calzaghe played out.
All interesting fights. My personal ranking would be: 1 - (Prime) Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes 2 - Andre Ward vs Joe Cazalghe 3 - Floyd Mayweather vs Pernell Whitaker 4 - Tyson Fury vs Joe Bugner 5 - Bernard Hopkins vs James Toney 6 - Jimmy Young vs Chris Byrd 7 - Winky Wright vs Erislandy Lara
Ali on points Mayweather on points At middleweight Toney on points at light heavyweight Hopkins on points I was about to make a thread on this the other day, Lar has been unlucky throughout his career, lost some very close decisions and got blatantly robbed against Paul Williams, he is a very good technical boxer, but is negative Lara would give in problems with his style, but Wright would win on points Calzaghe on points Byrd on points Fury stoppage
Exactly, you’d have to be a hardcore boxing fan to appreciate these fights, but I’d pick Ali vs Holmes to be the most exciting
