    the middleweights of that era

    1. Bennie Briscoe
    2. Stanley "Kitten" Hayward
    3. Willie "The Worm" Monroe
    4. Bobby "Boogalo" Watts
    5. George Benton
    6. Billy "Dynamite" Douglas

    How's Rocky do here?

Benton had his final fight in 1970 so not sure he fits into this era. Otherwise, Rocky was a glorified club fighter and loses badly to the majority of these. He has a chance against Hayward. Douglas was probably just too big.

This is the level I see Graziano at. He and Graziano would produce a great fight, where I think either could win, and this is the level I'd say Graziano is. I'd probably take Rocky to win a war here.
Graziano could win this, but Cokes was a much better fighter and Hayward destroyed him. The Kitten could win this as well. I'd take Graziano, but it's a 50/50.
    Graziano should stop Willie.
Graziano should stop Watts, too. That's if Watts isn't doing his hold and run routine, which gives him a real chance.
Does Benton count? He peaked in the sixties. I'd say that verison schools Graziano, but the 70s verison doesn't really have a chance.
Graziano should put a beating on Billy, but it'd be a great fight.
Ultimate war. Probably go with Grazi due to his chin. Cyclone is the best pucnher on the list though, he could KO Graziano for sure.

Boy ! you rate Graziano, I have don't share your conviction entirely George, when it comes to Bad Bennie I have major reservations, Rocky appeared to be on the small side, so I think BB will have it over him in build and certainly strength, granted Rocky carried a wallop, but his defense leaves a lot to desired, also Zale hurt him and put him down and out with body punches, see where I am going with this, so sorry mate I would go for BB getting hit of course, but that legendry chin of his would see him ok, then he would start to break Rocky down with a withering all out body attack for sure, you know that, so as for how long ? 6/7. keep well.

How do all these Philly guys have such unique nicknames? Never something I pieced together until this thread.

I think Graziano wins a three fight series with Watts and Monroe 2 out of 3, and I think he beats Douglas, but I think Briscoe would walk him down and stop him before the 8th round. Cyclone Hart probably knocks his block off, but if Rocky navigates the early round and starts to put leather on him, Graziano could win.

There's a far better chance that all these guys beat Graziano than that he beats two of them.

I think Rocky could have easily fought at 154 .. a great character and a legitimate big puncher but to me not a top 50 middleweight ..

Interesting .. Briscoe at this best fought a young Monzon to a draw and in the rematch almost flattened him in round 9 .. I see Briscoe destroying Graziano in a few rounds like Boza took out Verderosa .. Benton dices Rocky up easily ... no contest ..

In one off fights, the Rock has a 50/50 chance against any of these guys except Briscoe who was crafty and clever as well as the other common ingredients here.
They would all be PPV's in this day and age.
Oh, to the guy that said that Tony Zale hurt Graziano to the body, Tony Zale could hurt anyone anywhere, even if you were a decent sized statue or small mountain.
