Absolutely, there was bad blood remember between em and i wanted Lloyd getting him like he did Curry. Lol water under the bridge Noel.
Why do you come right out of the gate by getting personal? I have zero obsession with Keith Thurman. Keith Thurman is a current good but not great welterweight, too. He isn't garbage. Honeyghan wasn't garbage. Williams wasn't garbage. Berto wasn't garbage. They were all among the top rated welterweights of their time, none of them were great. So he's in there. Lower than Thurman, who has more top wins, higher than Berto, who has lesser wins. Around there.
Oh dear, why oh why did you pursue that line of insult in your reply, it has had made you look/sound like a pompous twat , for the record I am 66 and have been a boxing nut for well over 50 years, that doesn't make me right I know, its always up for debate who is the best P4P, what fighter is better than what fighter, H2H who do you think wins etc, so all I will say is , its your opinion and you are entitled to share it, and I respect that, as I do al opinions, lets just the let the follow up posts decide the issue shall we ? keep well.
You obviously have issues that go beyond a sport, so I will not pursuer this any longer, keep well and safe buddy.
I know two guys who fought Honeyghan, Kostas Petrou and Cliff Gilpin. Neither could believe the Curry performance. Rossi ? One terrific punch, fair enough but against Curry, Lloyd was holding his feet and banging which was nothing like the guy they boxed. Both Kaz and Cliff reckoned Honeyghan didn't like to fight. Petrou took him at a day's notice in 1982 and lost a close 8 rounder. He's always said that over 10 he'd have beaten Lloyd. Gilpin dropped a 1 round verdict for the British Title in 1983 and had Lloyd on the deck. He reckoned Honeyghan ran for 10 rounds although he concedes that Honeyghan was better in the rematch. The bigger the payday, the better Lloyd was. Petrou, £1,000 or there abouts. Gilpin, £10,000 and £14,000. Rossi £35,000. Curry, £250,000. Once he got relatively rich, Honeyghan went bananas partying and forgot what got him there in the first place. He just tried to whack opponents out so he could stay out of the gym and party for 3 months. Without doubt, there was a terrific Fighter in there somewhere. Hard punching, brave and clever. I think Gilpin and Petrou, both hard lads who were very happy in a fight, have a point, Honeyghan, who grew up in very tough circumstances, didn't like fighting but couldn't do anything else to get what he wanted in life so the more money you showed him, the better Fighter you got until he thought he was rich enough not to have to try. Imagine how good Lloyd could have been if he actually did it for the love of it.
