It matters to British fight fans. Having two Britons facing off for the ultimate prize in boxing, the undisputed heavyweight championship, is a once in a lifetime experience. It doesn't happen for us very often. America, by contrast, was spoilt for choice and got used to the big heavyweight fights being in America fought between two Americans. So, it's important to us...and I think we've earned the right to put on that fight...and we'll do it well, and it'll have an electric atmosphere. Trust me, there's nowhere on earth that can match the noise and atmosphere of a proper British fight night.
Errr.. You misinterpreted my post.. We can't fill any stadiums this year because of covid or have you not noticed? ... I meant it won't happen here until restrictions are lifted and we can have those kind of crowds, was it really that hard to see i meant that? Lol
There won't be a possibility for a full Wembley at this point, so gate revenue means it's definitely going to be in the middle east barring injuries or huge otherwise unseen delays. Both have already worked there and laid the foundations PR wise. Then again sportwash and cash does that anyway
American fan from Texas here and I 100% with everything you said. That fight belong in the UK and as you said the atmosphere would be by far better there than any other place. Plus it’s 2 UK fighters battling for Undisputed Supremacy in the HW division.
I'm glad you agree. It's such a one off, and we may not eee again, that I think British fans deserve to have it. It's not often we get two fighters going at it for the biggest prize in all of boxing.
What are you blathering on about? Britain, in the modern context, is over 200 years old and British history is the history of the English, Scottish, Welsh, and those in Ulster. It's like saying there's no such thing as an American because there are 52 states, who, in many ways, actually have far more differences in the way they do things than the 4 nations of the union. Also, the more multicultural aspect of the contestants (an northerner with some Irish blood and a second generation Nigerian from the south) makes it a quintessentially modern British fight rather than an English one.
It's not that deep. If the fight takes place this year in 2021, there will definitely not be 90,000 fans at Wembley. We would be lucky if 20,000 fans were allowed 0 I believe it would be a maximum of 10,000. So if it doesn't take place in the UK and takes place in Saudi Arabia instead, what's the big deal - it's prime time viewing for us. Much better than waking up at 4am to watch it if staged in the US.
I don't care where it is held. Wherever can make money and wherever can stage it as soon as possible.
Saudi Arabia was always more realistic than UK anyway. Neither side made any secret of that. That was the case before the covid19, nevermind now.
It needs to be done in the UK second half of the year ,with full staidium. Why hurry with the stecrile atmosphere right now .
The Arabs and Russians own the UK; makes sense to have the bout in Saudi Arabia or St Petersburg. Edit: Forgot about Pakistan/India. Add Islamabad to the list. They don't care about COVID over there.
