Normally I would say it's better to try, fail, and, if you must, make excuses after rather than only making excuses for why you won't try. But he really got run over, so maybe this is the exception.
Stop talking absolute crap. Hearn, Joe Gallagher and Smith himself said MONTHS before Canelo that they were in training and wouldn't be "caught out" with a late date. Hearn didn't mention the timeframe after the fight, Gallagher did although he said MONTHS before they were training for Canelo. And YES, if you're not ready then you don't take the fight, if you're injured you don't take the fight, if you are ill then you don't take the fight. There is nothing more of a female dog move to lose a fight and then blame time, illness, injury or weight.. Smith and his team between them mentioned 3 of those 4, totally embarrassing. Also Smith fans are now mentioning theses convenient excuses, I don't remember those Smith fans coming out after Smith beat Groves and mentioning Groves needing more time after wrecking his shoulder or Groves' shoulder itself.. that according to them was a GREAT WIN and proved Smith was the real deal. The levels of hypocrisy here are outstanding once again. The reality is Smith just wasn't and isn't good enough, he was beaten and beaten up, Smith could have had a 6 month training camp and the outcome wouldn't have been any different. ALL ABOUT LEVELS and Smiths level is John Ryder.
