Marciano zero KO losses vs Frazier (3) and Tyson (5). The stats don’t lie. Marciano defense >>over both.
You can say my name and actually have the balls to do so. Let’s lay it out for you because it’s not a debate. It is what it is. These are stats from compubox. opponents total connect percentage Rocky Marciano 24.5 percent Joe Frazier 29.7 percent Mike Tyson 32.8 percent Jack Dempsey 29.7 percent Do you see how your opinion doesn’t matter w whiff now? Say it again slowly...your opinion doesn’t matter. Facts matter. If you don’t believe it that’s a shame. But it’s reality. You making a post to make yourself look ignorant is rather amusing.
ROLAND LASTARZA "In defense. It was harder to get at him ... Rocky fools you. He doesn't take as much punishment as it seems. He looks easy to hit inside but he isn't." CHARILE GOLDMAN "He ain't as easy to hit as they say. Rocky rolls under punches and he weaves under punches ... He protects his belly by blocking with his elbows. ANEGELO DUNDEE "Rocky was a very deceiving guy. He was not easy to hit." "Well, let’s face it. He never got licked. Undefeated heavyweight champion of the world. I mean, how much better can you do than that?" "Marciano is the most underratedheavyweight of all time. He had so much more than they ever gave him credit for. He was capable of getting those bigger, heavier guys and destroying them." KNEENE SIMMONS "He fools you. When you look at him from outside the ring he seems easy to hit ...But if you're in the ring with him you find this isn't the case ... His head is bobbingand he's crouched low, so low in fact thatyou can't get a clear shot at him." copied this from another post...here you can actually read statements from trainers of the time and opponents. Also you bringing up a non prime Marciano fight (Louis fight) is dishonest. If you watch the fight with the sound on you’ll even here the commentary state he had t yet perfected his crouch and lean style yet.
His defense was sublime. I find his defense better than both Frazier and Tyson ( after comeback) Rocky by moving foward kept his opponent backing up, and so his offense and those heavy blows kept his opponent trying to hit him coming in. He would come in at akward angles and in a crouch. His goal was to get inside, all the while swinging and keeping them off balance. He could be hit coming in, but you had maybe one chance to do it before he was on you. Frazier could be timed, Tyson had barely any head movement after his comeback. Overall I would say Rocky is better than both. Tyson was better in his prime perhaps, as he had fleet feet and good head movement with a peek a boo style. Like other posters said, both Tyson and Frazier walked straight into the line of fire. There was more to Rocky than meets the eye at first glance.
At the risk of stating the obvious, none of these men would have got very far, without good defense for what they were.
Frazier was absolutely not susceptible to uppercuts in his prime. As a matter of fact, that's the shot that Ali got countered on which led to his KD in the 15th.
Using this logic, Marciano had a better defense than any heavyweight in history. Sadly this logic is still better than Gazelle's.
I didn't want to namedrop you cause it's a hilariously embarrassing stance which reeks of bias. I think those stats would be a bit different, if the best men Frazier and Tyson ever faced were 2 38 year old former greats, a 37 year old Louis, and a past it Charles and they had the fortune of defending against men like C0ckell. This is also a hilariously flawed, and deceptive way of gauging fights (if your compubox stats are even true of course) considering not all of Marciano, Frazier, and especially Dempsey's fights were filmed. Furthermore, those compubox stats also take into account post-prime performances of both fighters, as well as fights when both were completely shot, while Marciano never reached this level of decline as he retired far before. I take it you've been training with Choklab? Your dishonesty game is getting better and better. Keep at it this rate, you may very well overtake him. Will need decades more experience though, Chok's on a level of his own
Wow, I never investigated it with this detail. But I am glad my observations are confirmed. Rocky fought a great deal of the BEST fighters of all time. Walcott, Charles, Moore, Louis -these are some of the greatest and most accurate combination punchers around, and if THEY could not connect then Rocky has a better defense than many posters can come to terms with. Anyone that says Rocky had a bad defense can be considered un- knowledgeable about the sport.
