He was as dirty and grimy as they came, and against consistently overmatched opponents at that. He made his name beating up on shopworn former Welterweights. He had to, of course. Anything to minimize the chances of having his fragile chin shattered.

Mayweather Jr. was a gifted defensive fighter at welterweight. Also should be commended on ALWAYS going into fights in the best physical condition. The biggest key to his longevity in the fight game.
