More of a matter of styles than anything. Joshua isn't the kind of fighter that can stave off wlad landing 8 punches per round for the distance
AJ was infinitely worse in Ruiz 1 than Fury against Wallin seeing as Fury won his fight clearly and AJ ended up splattered on the canvas multiple times before quitting in the corner.
Ruiz wouldn't have been considered top 10 if he didn't merk Joshua, shoddy logic. Wallin would've been top 10 if he won against Fury.
Nah Ruiz was top ten around 9ish if I remember right, Wallin was at best top 30. And no I don't just post hate on Fury but again you have only been on these boards for a year an a half so you really don't know but you can check post history to see that it not true... the difference is I do not suck Fury's ball's like miniq and call out B.S.
Ruiz was on literally no top ten lists at the time, I remember accurately that was the case. TBRB, The Ring and boxrec all had him sitting outside the top 10. Boxrec mightv'e just had him inside the top 15 which made sense but that was the highest he was rated by anyone. Remember that his best win at the time was a shot Dimitrenko. Wallin was also around top 30 but tbh had just about the same quality of opposition as Ruiz when he faced Fury. Difference is one lost embarrassingly to the former whereas the latter simply made Fury victim of a nasty cut which does not a bad fighter make.
Best performance without doubt was convincing the British public he was a great role model, full of love and laughter ... instead of a dusted off thug who knocks up strippers and has a hypocritical hatred of the people that hosted his entire life and provided the infrastructure to give him every single thing he has, even his super HW stature and muscle mass (provided largely by ''Western'' food, medicine, sanitation and chemical enhancement legal or otherwise).
Boxrec is pure trash Wilder at #2 is a complete joke but even now if you want to go off of them Ruiz is ranked 6th Wallin 44th Oh and BTW Ruiz, who was the WBA No. 5, WBO No. 11 and IBF No. 14 ranked heavyweight at the time of the fight.
Are people here really compare Ruiz with Wallin ? Ruiz even on his worst shape is a top HW, unlike Wallin at his best. As far as Joshua best performance i would say Pulev. He was fast, explosive, very light on his feet, moving well, dodging punches very well, was using his strengths and his energy level were great. The best thing to happen to AJ was the lost to Ruiz. With his old style, that would have happen 100%. Its good that it happen back then, than happen late where he just can`t adapt or improve any longer. I don`t think his performance against WK was great. Yeah he beats him, which is all that matter, but it was Klitschko that let him of the hook.
Carlos Takkam. in terms of technique Aj practically used his entire arsenal EFFECTIVLY and was slipping hooks on the inside and punches at mid range, Moving in and out of range, leaned that 250lb+ musclar frame on takkam in the clinches slowing him down, almost always continously moved forward, feinting while controlling the distance, infighting with takkam at points, and dropping takkam with a left hook counter in the pocket. Both fought like warriors. Too bad when Aj weighs that much those muscles take all his oxygen supply in 12 seconds During the povetkin fight he was effectively fighting on the backfoot at spots but he was getting outboxed at spots too and povetkin was past his prime.
