Jones. Otherworldly for a guy that size. Ray was small, 147 same day weigh in, and Jones still looked faster.
Don't know the answer to that one. They were both fast. I do know that Ray as a welterweight and Roy as a middleweight/super middleweight were two of the best I saw.
Hard to really say tbh. Both men were at the top of charts as far as hand speed is concerned. But so many fighters were. Were those two much faster if at all than M.Taylor, T.Norris, P.Whitaker, H.Camacho Sr. R.Robinson ,M Pacquiao, or F.Mayweather Jr in their primes? Or better still Ali, who outweighed them all at the least by 50lbs? Or J.Louis whom may have had average foot speed, but his handspeed was better than most Middleweights. Its a hard challenge almost impossible to really have a strong opinion based on reasoning between the speed of fighters of different weight classes. Based on weight Jones Jr was faster because he for the most part was heavier than Leonard and looked just as fast as he was. But, how many fighters did Jones Jr face was as fast or as skilled as prime Duran,, T.Hearns or W.Benitez at respective weight? Thats right none. So many variables to consider when trying to compare fighters of different weight classes in the speed or power category.
How does the quality of your opposition prove anything about your speed? Amir Kahn's hands were faster than Oscar Delahoyas even though odh resume at the same weights shits all over his
Roy’s hand speed impressed me the most. Whether it was a single shot lead or single shot counter, or arm flurry, or full on combination with leverage, I think his handspeed was the best relative to his weight classes. At least below HW, it’s hard to gauge HW. https://thumbs.gfycat.com/JollySophisticatedAdamsstaghornedbeetle-max-1mb.gif Hector Camacho was probably second.
Sure it does. Especially in the cases I presented Hearns and Benitez were also noted for their speed. Duran for his quickness and distance closing ability, those 3 fighters were capable of competing with Leonard's atheletiscim and speed.Conversely, Jones Jr never faced anyone whom could compete with him, or was noted for speed , so he was facing opponents he had a very definitive physical or speed advantages over its harder to gauge how he would've responded with an opponent with equal physical ability or speed.. Its easier to look superfast against weaker competition. But Its all speculative. Was Kahn really that much faster than ODH? Or was Kahns competition much weaker and because of this he only seemed faster than ODH because of the weaker, less talented competition? How many of Kahns opponents can be compared to prime Shane Mosely ? Who was noted for his speed. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel just trying to take all the information available and present it in a logical conclusion. Am I writing this in stone???? Hell no lol.
