Where did Rocky Marciano get his amazing power from? He wasn't ripped or huge like Anthony Joshua

I am surprised Arnold Schwarzenegger never made it as a fighter. He had everything.

Agreed. Not only are they to small, but they're simply not skilled enough to compete in today's era which pains me to say as that is one of my favorite eras in Heavyweight boxing.

I find it remarkable that posters who highly value size and muscles...unanimously find the thought of Primo Carnera being a decent champion absolutely insulting to them.

 

Then your statement is equivalent with the opinion that nobody at their size could compete. Because you won't find any fighters more skilled than Charles or Moore at their weight.

 

No I don't think any sub 200 pounders could compete with modern SKILLED SHWs It's one thing to compete in one-offs, but fighting 3 or 4 times a year against men you're giving up 50-60 pounds to, that would wear on you quickly.

It's simple, Marciano robbed other fighters of their space to load up on their shots and put all the mustard he could on his own punches. He's not just throwing arm punches, he twists his whole body into them. And while he wasn't some roidhead, Rocky was pretty muscular and had a solid, stocky build. Combine the two and you have a guy that can bang. Add to that the fact that he would crank out these power shots one after the other over 15 rounds without getting tired, and you have something pretty unusual in boxing.

Marciano used to cut weight, with todays food and training facilities he’d easily be up to 210 and he’d destroy everybody, same thing with foreman in the 70’s.
