I don’t know too many people that say Tyson ducked/avoided Spoon. It’s well known that he lost in one round against Bonecrusher the second time around, possibly because he tanked it or was throughly disinterested, and he sued Don King.

King promoted Tyson from 88-on, and swayed a lot of power in the HW division and the sport in general.

Tyson did not duck Witherspoon who was a highly skilled boxer puncher a skills star. Not saying he would have beat a peak Tyson but probably had the best chance but to win would have had to be better than he had ever been. He trained alongside my Uncle Azumah Nelson. Quality guy Terrible Tim Witherspoon.

Yeah people kept thinking Mike was frazier and was going to meet an Ali but the thing is frazier was a BAD matchup stylistically for Ali. Ali was just an ATG so he found ways to win. But all the second rate Ali's that filled the 80s hw scene were some of Mike's easiest fights like biggs and faded Holmes and tillman and tillis

Ducked Witherspoon? Pfff.... Maybe if Witherspoon didn't lose he would've gotten the direct opportunity to fight Tyson. Ducking lol.... Tyrell Biggs was a much better fighter than Witherspoon at the time.
