Obviously Loma is tiny and eventually size and power overrides a skill advantage. He's being playing with fire for a while regarding size disparity. Don't let Canelo's recent exploits fool you. His rise in weight classes was also accompanied by remarkable physical gains, and he still lost to Golovkin and was losing to Kovalev before he suddenly became a one punch terminator of LHW's.
Gotta credit Lopez. I think Loma was concerned with Lopez’s power and quick counters and took too long to let his hands go. Would have been a different fight had he done so earlier. Not so sure he would’ve won, as opening up would have led to more exchanges and opportunities to get hurt , as in the 12th, but he’d have given himself a better chance, but a different fight either way.
You judge a fight based on what happens, not based on what should have happened. Loma doesn't lose points just because he didn't live up to your standards.
you loma fanboys need to get a grip. he was never as good as you thought he was. plenty of clues way before teo showed you, but you made excuses like youre doing now. dont fear reality and deal with it.
Loma was very wary of the speed and power of Lopez early doors His gameplan was not to engage him early doors and work him out finding gaps. Problem is unlike others Lopez fought very smart, he went to the body and used to jab exclusively. He didn't show his hand to Loma or overextend once. By mid fight Loma basically had no option but to risk it for a biscuit as Lopez slowed but it was already too late
Loma looked to be expending tons of energy for very little result. I didn’t see Lopez ever hurt or flustered.
Man, you guys seem to watch boxing for reasons other than actual boxing. A younger guy beat a 33 year old in a close fight. The guy talking about going to 140 beat a guy who could easily make 126. Respect to Teo for fighting a smart fight but when Loma stepped on the gas, he was very effective. He just waited too long to do it. I hope both guys get together and do it again. Once they started exchanging, it was a good fight.
If they fought again, Lopaz would make adjustments and KO Loma. What will be a stain in Loma{s legacy is his refusal to try and avenge his defeats. Loma made no attempt to rematch Salido. And I doubt he tries to remarch Lopez.
As experienced Loma is, he’s also still learning the pro game. You can see this with his loss to Salido. He encounters new situation and need to learn how to fight the right fight. Lopez had a huge size advantage which made Loma reluctant to stay on the inside to do damage, he focused it all on defense and lost the first 6. When he adapted to that, he won most of the latter 6 rounds. so he too lacks the professional experience. He wins in the rematch.
This and not so much he " beated " Loma, barely won on points. Why he needed this? Fight with beltless dude for U.S fans pleasure, most likely for little money. Salido is overrated as hell, he was 147 lbs in the ring vs 136 lbs Loma. This ***** was not capable to stop Loma with 40 low blows. Dear god, what a big accomplishment to win smaller guy on points. Lol, then big hero Salido lost his belt on scales not in fight. Ofc, he is westerner therefore he is professional and Loma bad boxer because he is from EE. Regardless of style and boxers fighting flowcharts forums always will be full with EE boxers haters looking for each opportunity to post something to devalue their resumes, legacy and so on.
