Battle for domestic Caleb supremacy. IBF super middleweight title at stake, third defense of Plant. PBC on Fox; third world championship tilt of the new year and first since the Alvarado bros double-header serving as bookend at the beginning of the month. The challenger, a Minnesotan and thirteen year veteran of the sport, previously wore the same belt in a fleeting reign that saw him immediately hot-potato it to James DeGale, the very man he'd defeated for it. The champion had faced just a single world class opponent in José Uzcátegui (against Truax's five, including the DeGale upset, four losing efforts including the rematch, and one NC) but the young Tennessean has remained unbeaten dispatching several fringe contender types more or less Truax's equal on paper. Neither man will have fought in roughly a year. Both stand at 6'1" and have near identical reach.
I also think Plant wins, though he generally gets overrated while Truax endures short shrift. Class gulf is still sizable with accounting for all that. Not convinced by stoppage, though.
Tbf I've never had much interest in him bar the Degale rematch Has he looked poor? Surely Plant schools him at this stage
Yeah, he looked pretty uninspiring versus a forty-something Ugandan journeyman a year ago: This content is protected
PBC is such ****ing garbage , it's really a joke at this point. Truax's sell by date was 10 years ago . What's the point of watching Plant torch this guy? Plant's career is becoming a waste of time. Same with Benavidez. It's pointless mismatch fights. I guess neither wants to fight the other as both wait for a Canelo fight they'll likely never get.
Benavidez just turned 24 has already fought for a belt. He lacks focus but he's being brought along decently (though it is time for the Plant fight). Berlanga is the same age and still on his KO1 streak.
Yawn.... I think if rather catch up on some Netflix. There's a cute documentary about baby sea turtles I've been meaning to watch
Smart choice is Plant by decision, Plant really can't hit. He couldn't even dispatch guys that he should've been able to coming up. Truax is made of tougher mettle than the guys Plant couldn't get rid of. He'll take his licks without getting stopped. This is actually a bit harder of a fight than people are making it out to be..............the difference is going to be Plant's handspeed and movement. Truax is one of those rough and tumble guys though and Plant doesn't have the right style to run him over.
Caleb wins. Seriously, Plant wins easily. Afterwards, he aggressively calls out Benavidez and mentions Canelo. Then sometime this year, he fights Gabe Rosado or Peter Quillin.
